Drewmill 0 Posted June 20, 2012 I was thinking about the alienware m14x, but i would rather get some suggestions/facts from people who actually know what they are talking about. Sorry if this is a thread copy.
jubag 0 Posted June 20, 2012 you can a refurbed XPS here, most of them are pretty sweet and very well priced http://www.dell.com/outlet i have one myself, although i play dayz on my desktop all of them should run this game
Coyote (DayZ) 0 Posted June 20, 2012 Does it absolutely have to be a laptop? There's nothing wrong with laptops, I game with one myself, but with around $1000 you could build a decent desktop. If you have your heart set on a laptop, then I have no idea =/
BigEyeGuy 0 Posted June 20, 2012 My experience with dell (makes Alienware computers too) was not goodI had an XPS for gaming which worked like shit and died real quickso far i have a Macbook Pro 2009 and i game on bootcamp, working pretty well for me. zcypot 0 Posted June 20, 2012 what he said, I already built a $600 pc for my friend(that is his budget) that would even run BF3 on high, maybe with some ultra settings.
Drewmill 0 Posted June 20, 2012 it has to be a laptop (No room for a pc) would the m14x work (normal graphics)?
fackstah 31 Posted June 20, 2012 i have a samsung i bought for 700 $ has a AMD phenom quadcore @ 3.2 with 8 gigs of ram and a dedicated video card on it it runs this game at 60FPSi paid 700$ plus tax dont waste your money on alienware
zcypot 0 Posted June 20, 2012 damn must live in pretty tight area then...Well Take a look at levono laptops as well, I hear a lot of good things about them. I have an outdated Asus G73j-h I believe it was, and it runs the game good. 5870m GPU.Laptops that handle gaming usually arent very mobile, I suggest the smaller screen if possible so GPU does not have to over work as much. Screen size also increases the price. Will look for further info to give my suggestions, For help I have my goto site Overclock.netfound it by accident when i was building my first PC couple years ago, really helpful. Drewmill 0 Posted June 20, 2012 by any chance do you remember the exact model?^
Biowulfe 0 Posted June 20, 2012 I have a Asus G73J with ATI radeon hd 5870 and it runs DayZ rather well on high settings it cost me around $1400 12 months ago so it might be around 1k now.I would recommend it if you want a good gaming laptop for a reasonable price, another good feature is the cooling system is nice and quiet and works very well (so long as its kept free of dust ect). zcypot 0 Posted June 20, 2012 Yeah what Biowulfe said, great laptop. Older models are found sometimes around $800 range or cheaper. Depends where you find them.Lenovo Y460, Z460 laptops are power houses as well. usually cheaper than other competitors
Biowulfe 0 Posted June 20, 2012 Not to hijack the OP's question but can anyone recommend an upgrade to my Asus G73j?Id be looking at parting with around 3k.
zcypot 0 Posted June 20, 2012 lol with 3k might as well build a system like mine with 3 monitors and dual flagship GPUs.
blockhead (DayZ) 4 Posted June 20, 2012 yeah my experience of xps laptops is not that goodlast one I had was the studio xps 16 with maxed out spec from dellit overheated way too fast, so good performance didnt last longtbh, for best gaming performance it's desktop all the way
Biowulfe 0 Posted June 20, 2012 I know id get more value from building a computer but for my lifestyle and job its more convenient to own a laptop instead.
