Griffith 62 Posted June 24, 2013 Since we cant sling a rifle to clear up a weapon slot for the melee, can we change the backpacks to have a weapon slot like a car or a tent so the rifles dont take up a stupid amount of space in a pack?
Dagwood 680 Posted June 24, 2013 I agree. Perhaps big packs like the cheq and coyote would eat up the available weapon slot on your person (slinging the gun) and you would need to put the gun in your back pack and make it more difficult to easily draw. This would give assault and patrol packs more utility for players that want to carry a primary and be able to quickly whip out a melee weapon for point blank engagements with infected or other survivors.I know I would rather carry a smaller pack that gave me more "maneuverability" than a larger, more cumbersome backpack if I was fighting raging madmen that can knock us down fairly easily. mick17 93 Posted June 24, 2013 I agree, although I think it should be larger packs only. Some packs even have dedicated weapon scabbards.
Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted June 24, 2013 Maybe the weapon slot should just represent hanging the weapon off the side of your backpack. In that case, some backpacks should have more than one and some should have none at all.
lukem814 7 Posted June 24, 2013 Maybe link this in with crafting? Say you could find something to attach onto your backpack or some part of your body so the gun doesn't have to take up inventory space.
Griffith 62 Posted June 25, 2013 I think just adding a dedicated weapon slot to the pack itself like vehicles and tents have is the most reasonable way to achieve this with the minimal amount of coding changes. No need to change graphics or getting all crazy with standalone on the horizion just something that should be in theroy a quick gode change to a couple of items
