Sabr 0 Posted June 20, 2012 Let me amend this statement by saying that day Z as a zombie GAME is fun.But how can a zombie game be fun, with zombies that aren't fun?Hasn't this been clear for over a month? This game features zombies that die 5 seconds after they take lethal damage, follow you endlessly across the map at Kenyan speeds (with varying sensitivities), and are wrapped in endless layers of buggy mechanics. And yet, people still play and enjoy the game. Why is that? I think it's pretty clear that if the main objective of this game was a you vs. zombies autism simulator, not many people would play it. This is because the zombies are a peripheral mechanic of fun in this game. They add environment, they add backdrop, they add setting and tone. Sometimes, they even kill you, but they're not the main threat. People are. Humans, in a desolate wasteland. Rogue elements out for themselves in whichever manner they deem the most efficient way to operate.This is why the focus of the game shouldn't be shifted from a human one to an artificial one, especially with said artificial limitations. The game at this point changes at its core, and becomes different... a warped incarnation of the amazing game we've been playing.TL;DR-Zombies too stronk, combined with retooled weapon/item drops, 90% of gameplay is running from zombies, eventually finding an axe or something, using a horrible melee system while zombies chip you away, break your knee caps, etc. Player interaction minimized.Fix pls. Vitzo 0 Posted June 20, 2012 It's hardly desolate wasteland with everyone struggling to survive if the zombies aren't any threat. I'm loving the increased challenge. And I'm finding MORE player interaction now that we start with no weapon and the zombies are harder. Player 'interaction' before was simply shoot on sight. The same degree of interaction you get in any shooter.Now? I spawn on the beach. I run from zombies into another newly spawned player. We are both weaponless and flee together, yelling out haphhazard plans. Maybe we both bet eaten. Maybe we eventually get some weapons and one of us kills the other. Maybe we team up for hours. Check Chernarus Apocalypse thats how strong zombies should be if not even stronger. 3 makarov clips in torso should be bare minimum to killl zombie ( or 1 in head ) its should scale so its fit for other weapons too. The new zombie AI is great with LOS implemented so you can actually loose them but the only threat from zombies in DayZ was the army of them running behind you so other players spoted you before. As for log off the character should stay ingame for at least 120 seconds, the idea would be when you press log off you character sits and the count down starts if you move the count down stops, if you alt f4 the client the count down start serverside and character is still ingame. This is a free mod you didn't have to pay for Dayz you paid for Arma 2 which is unrelated i know hard to believe. The zombies are epic, I'm a promoter of them getting harder so you have to team up with someone just to survive a few extra minutes. And rocket has released 4 patches in like 2-3 days lol give the guy a freakin break. But now its like you can only crawl or you will be seen and get chased by 10 Zeds. I know a challenge is fun, but I think dealing with zombies that run faster than you and can spot you miles away is too much. I'm sure it will be tweaked but since this is an alpha I am saying zombies can sense you way to easily now. I love this game and its almost everything I have wanted in a zombie game, but I don't want it to be so hard that I die by moving unless I am crawling. I still went anywhere, day/night it didn't matter. Never aggro'd anything and still got tons of loot, it was silly. So, I jumped on tonight and tried to do the usual and was so happy when the zeds started aggroing and I finally got to fire the m249 I'd been carrying around for the past week. For a while after that i tried being stealthy, proning where I used to crouch, it worked, was pretty boring and wasn't perfect.So, I started changing up my game. I'd plan an attack on a town. I'd push in slowly trying not to alert the zeds, but once I get close enough I'd just sprint the rest of the way to whatever building I was headed for. Then you simply turn around and cap some heads, or crouch and watch as the zombies stand outside all confused. Some buildings(military tents) confuse the zombies so badly they instantly stop when you enter.I had 1000 rounds for my M249 and ran around Berenzino for the last few hours killing zeds like crazy, I racked up ~300 kills without so much as needing a bandage. There needs to be an indefinite sense of danger because of the zombies, making people band together to survive (or kill others to survive) however you were missing the social element in previous versions where everyone just basically killed the shit out of each other. My point was that just because you can't sneak past zombies you're still able to GET past them. It's not like you die the second a zombie is aggro'd. And now you can even get away from them so it's even easier. You can run around zombies and all they can do is follow you. That right there makes the game easy in just about every situation. You can run forever in this game!I swear some of this community doesn't understand the direction this mod is headed. People are going to lose their minds if zombies ever run indoors. Instead of sneaking around, people just full out run, grab all the aggro, find something to run around and then lose it. This ruins the game.There is no point in trying to sneak anymore - it is almost impossible anyways. I would like to see zombies with the level of awareness they had in 1.7 as it made for enough high suspense moments, with perhaps some of the following enhancements to add to the difficulty,Add between +1 and +4 random extra zeds at all locations.Have wandering zeds start wandering toward you if you get to close(like they catch your scent, ie a % higher chance theyll walk right at you as you get closer and closer)Have more Zeds spawn in periodicly the longer you stay in one area.Rn stealthing anything is broken. They were a joke before, which led everyone to get bored. Remember all the "what now" threads. There was nothing to do but kill other people.There are plenty of "kill other people" games.
