Suggested solution to zombie Aggro and difficulty

Recommended Posts

Here is part of the solution....

Zombies who are outside of a building... should not be able to hear footsteps inside of a building period.

How often have you stood outside of a supermarket or a pub or an office building and heard people walking around? If someone weighed 400 pounds, opened their window in their office, and did jumping jacks you wouldn't hear his feet hitting the ground from the outside.

And the zombie aggro range needs to be reduced by a slight amount.

Also... crouch walking should be buffed by a lot. It should be more silent than prone but more visible. This creates more interesting game play. If you want to avoid zombie's sight range but maybe not be heard.. choose to crouch walk. If you want to be more hidden from zombies (and players) but make more noise.. go prone.

I think 1.7 was almost perfect. I liked how zombie aggro worked then (except for the whole seeing through walls and hitting through walls part). I think that Zombies aggro should return to this, but they should hit much harder. This way.. stealth is again a viable option.. but if you screw up you will pay the price.

You also have to take into account that in real life, we have vehicles and other people and lots of other outside noises interfering with our senses. In dayz there wouldn't be far far less of this, I do think there should be a slight reduction through buildings but not by the large amount that you are saying.

I reckon the aggro range is fine, since if you plan to get within 10m of a infected then you should get screwed unless you are shift crawling which then once you are within like 3-5m then you should be screwed.

You shouldn't be getting so close to a infected unless you plan to crossbow shoot them.
