I do like that that the zombies are stronger, but the fact that you get infected so quickly is extremely annoying. I went to Cherno on 2 servers, checked the 2 hospitals and military tents, but could not find any antibiotics. I killed 3 people, and none of them had any either. Just seems like if antibiotics are the only way to cure yourself, they shouldn't be so uncommon, I mean, now with updated medical loot...

Ha, this poll isnt fair because all the unsatisfied players already switched to other games ;-) I ve already lost "friends" I played with in the last month. Today I found a server with the following settings

DE 1000 NPC fortress

350 vehicles

fixed loot + infection !!!

real crashsites

buildings

extra barracks

wrecks

care packages

dayonly

autorefuel

repair stations

open roads

start equipment

active admins

no zombies

This sounds like fun. 34 Players at this time, ranked at the first place. Ok, the last point was added by me, couldnt resist :-P

I can suggest you Wasteland mod

almost every server have

500+ cars all kind starting from bicycle to tank

aircraft helicopters, jets

Loot all possible gear you can imagine, if you cant find you can go to shop an buy

players 60/60

NO ZEDS

99% PvP 1% PvAI

You can play ether Team vs Team or solo against all, or create small independent group and fight with others

you can build base not just tent

hows that ?

boring?

well its not actually cos you have tasks for example, capture tank, helicopter, base ... etc

and at task location there is loots of action and you are not uber soldier with 50 .cal coz at task location you can get clan on BTRs and Tanks guarded by helicopter. And you will wish you had gun with silencer :)

but - this is pure PVP fun and it should stay there, in Dayz I want scary hardcore zombie apocalypse with casual PvP

I'm pretty sure the only reason the hospitals windows are unbroken is because thats how the model for that building is in arma 2, there's no grand design behind it.

Why has my survivor got no gear?

Maybe i've just been robbed by bandits (the uber rare ones that dont kill for no reason)

Maybe i was on a boat that capsized losing all my possessions at sea

Maybe i'd laid down to rest one night in a shed and got woken by a bunch of zeds forcing me to run for my life leaving all my gear.

My assumption that a decent amount of time has passed since the outbreak is based mainly on the evidence i see all around the map, there's signs of very heavy military presence all over the place, i find it dificult to believe that all those roadblocks and burntout vehicles could of just appeared overnight.

Not overnight but easily in a few weeks or so. My point is who knows the back story it's part of the joy of Day Z you can make it up yourself make your own story.

Thing is you can't say that it's logical based on your opinion of what the story is. From a gameplay point of view to find loot all over the place and not in fairly logical locations is poor IMO. We have infection camps and heli crashes for loot in random places, plus we have US, the players. Some of the best loot I have found has been in odd places in tents, in vehicles and dead bodies.

Hospitals would be stripped clean within days, so would everywhere else you'd expect to find supplies, that's where your idea of logical locations is flawed for me.

sorry dayzforumer. i'll say no more.

I like pretty much all the changes in this patch. The increased difficulty of the zombies is a welcome change, and the rarity of loot is really shaking things up.

My only complaint would be the terminator like persistence some zombies seem to have now for chasing you. Even if you weave through some bushes or objects and break the line of sight, some of the zombies still seem to home in on you, ignoring the obstacles in between. I used to be really good at losing zombies, to the point it was second nature, but now I seem to have to lose their sight at least 10 times before they stop. But, it's not all zombies, only a select few that have this uncanny ability to chase me down and stay on my tail, perhaps they're Kenyan?

It's a lot better in 1.7.7.1, try it out. They still run as fast as you, but now you can properly lose them through trees, hills, and buildings.

and in what way is that better? its not better its more easy and more easy in a survival game is never "better"!

Very buggy patch, plus zeds are now worse, imo, than getting shot at by an m107 or AS50.

Seeing a zombie run around obstacles blocking their sight or through the darkness, homing in on you like they're a bloodhound was immersion breaking and didn't add anything of value to the difficulty. You could still lose them all the same, it just took a lot more repetition. Coming from previous versions where it seemed natural and logical when you lost zombies, I couldn't help but notice and be annoyed.

While i do like some of the changes, they still have to fix loot spawning ESPECIALLY in hospitals, been to the hospitals in cherno, elektro and berezino 10 different times each on different servers and have yet to find a single god damn blood bag. Changes need to be made for infection as well. Otherwise i think they found a good median in zed attack i just think to make it more difficult they should speed zeds up a little bit indoors so it isnt a walk in the park to kill 30 zeds with a makarov when you go into a barn. Im not talking full speed running but power walking at least instead of the 1 mph saunter they got goin on.

I don't mind the new patch, but it seems that the infection rates are excessive. It might be because of the horrible pathing the zed's have, but its chances are too frequent... Now there really is no need to worry about carrying morphine, because the chances are substantially low... Which that used to be your biggest worry when facing infected.

I do understand the idea of trying to make people think twice before running into towns - it works - but the infection rate combined with the zed's "lazor eyesight and hearing" makes it hellish when you obtain aggro... And don't even try to fire any un-silenced weapons unless you have the ammo to pump a dozen zed's down.

Also, the loot tables seem fucked. I've been to multiple public hives updated with the patch, and have walked into different towns like Polana & Berezino finding absolutely no loot... Not even junk loot either. Tried to re-log away from the town, enter and once again - nothing. And it seems like I am not the only one experiencing the extreme rarity of even the simplest junk loot found before the patch.

Yes I do understand that scavenging should be harder but it seems like its went to the complete opposite side of the spectrum. Turn down the infection rates - make them equivalent to broken bones and tweak medical spawns just a tad IMO ^_^

I really like how the zombies are more of a danger now. But combined with the knockdowns and the hightened infection, it's just too much. I like a challenge, but the cranked up difficulty forces you to approach it as a stealth/sneak game, which should be just one of the possible play styles.

The knockdowns on their own are to me more annoying than a great way to add challenge. After dying twice because of repeated knockdowns, I quit. Dayz is to me also quite unique, because when I lose everything I worked and fought for, it still makes me start a new game right away, instead of calling it a night. But the knockdowns frustrate me and eventually I go play something else.

you dont need to sneak/crouch as long as you:

  • keep away from major cities
  • got enough ammo for your weapons to kill every Zombie that encounters you
  • you exactly now the village you are in and where you can plan a usefull escape route.
  • you keep your distance between you and the Zeds to not get knocked down or infected.

i play the most time not stealthy and survive since the 1.7.7 came out without dieing once and im often in villages like Zelenegorsk or Krasnostavz.

i just dont run into main cities anymore if i dont need to. or if than with a silenced weapons and a NVG...

I must say i find it funny how manny people dislike the patch commenting and posting new threads, and then suddenly it seems like they are outnumbered to what seemed like a minority.

People using the word annoying to describe a likely fatal infection in a survival game is pretty telling. I survived staff and sudamonis infections IRL 3 years ago WITH 6 weeks of intravenous antibiotics and THAT was annoying.

Sitting in a chair for 30 minutes every 12 hours with fluids pumping into your heart is annoying.

I would imagine feeling your body fall apart because you don't have access to those antibiotics would be much more than "annoying" as everyone in this thread is repeatedly describing the game mechanic.

Having to carry a box of antibiotics around in your pack as a JIC piece of equipment (like in previous patches) is about as annoying as needing to carry a condom around in your wallet.

Now that they are a necessity like a weapon and sufficient ammo everyone is complaining that its "annoying".

Calling it annoying is an obvious tell that you do not value your life in this game unless it is a character that has uber leet equipment that gives you the capabilities to kill other players. In previous patches this mentality was not the fault of the players persay (I must admit that I generally felt the same way), but a result of a survival game not challenging the player from minute to minute to literally run/fight/hide for their life.

This new patch has, rightly so, put the zombies onto the top of the food chain, and to enjoy it players will need to learn to love battling the new king of the jungle.

Please stop calling a life ending disease annoying. It makes you all sound lazy, indifferent, and frankly unfit to play this game.

Offtopic: Im sorry to hear you've been ill, Dagwood. But it's pretty obvious that infection in Dayz doesn't compare to infection in real life, just as little as seeing your teammate getting killed in a round of Team Deathmatch in COD compares to post war trauma that real soldiers suffer.

Ontopic: in a game like this is comes down to simulated events that become gameplay mechanics, and I think the blood, food, liquid and temperature were sufficient. I liked infection to be rare, something totally unexpected that happens and adds a sense of emergency to whatever it is you're doing. Now it's way too easy to get infected, and forces players too often to go back to medical areas. Where I think that breaking something as the only reason to head for a hospital was enough. When you lose blood in the middle of the woods you can go hunting, but when infected there's only one thing to do.

You mean the medical areas that don't spawn antibiotics? I'm guessing that they removed medical supplies from hospitals to deny players an easy one stop solution for all their current/future medical needs. With one medical box, a squad of 4+ is ready to deal with any number of leg breaks or liters of lost blood.

With the new loot drops, medical equipment is something that you will always need more of and not just a space occupier in your backpack.
