newby here! have some questions :)

Recommended Posts

Just started playing DayZ yesterday with my friend for the first time and its great!!! But just have some questions..

can someone explain hives/private hives/official hives/vanilla etc? haha! I'm currently playing on a #GX server on dayz origins but when i went onto another #GX server it didnt keep my gear? :S

Also what does it mean when a server says 4th day/night? Are all of the origins servers synced to your time zone cause i couldnt get in a daytime server last night!

also could anyone recommend some good uk servers for dayz and dayz origins? Want it realistic but not too hard lol.. just dont want to be spawning with a sniper! lol..

Me and my friend want to start a progress on a dayz and dayz origins servers so we can work on our gear and keep going back.. if you could answer these q's and also tell me some good linked servers (#GX?) that would be great! thank you

Hives are the databases, some are shared so what you have on one can be transferred to the other, private are private so what happens on that server stays on that server.

Vanilla means it's how the game is released, plain :) most private servers have added modifications such as strip vehicle parts, self blood bag, hundreds of extra vehicles etc

thank you :) how do you find out which hives share a particular database e.g for the #GX origins servers? what do i look out for in the server title to know what other servers it is linked to in the hive..?

I don't think you can filter by shared or private hives, most good private hives have a website with info about the server.

Personally i find a server i like and stay on it :) no need to server hop so shared hives make no difference.

Hi!

We in the TMW (Trusted Medics of the Wasteland) actually hold training for new players. We go through everything you need to know about running around in Cherno!

If you are interested, go to our forums and sign up! Here's a link to where you sign up for training: http://tmwdayz.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=48

Hope to see you around!

All of the public servers with names such as US 151 etc are connected to a public hive, meaning that all of the info about your character like loot etc is connected to a database (hive) and regardless of what server you go on you have the items you had on the previous one. However a private hive is not connected to that same public hive and private hive servers tend to have stuff like more choppers, custom cities, and custom spawning gear - that's how you spawned with a sniper. 4th day/night as far as I know that means that every fourth day there is a night.. I'm not too sure on this so don't quote me on it. The servers are not linked to your timezone at all - it depends on the timezone the server is hosted in, meaning a UK server will have GMT +0 etc. If you're new I do recommend TMW's training for new players ^^
