Consistent frame spikes

Recommended Posts

  1. Playing on steam version
  2. Launching through Play with Six
  3. Happened on every version (from date of purchase to version 1.7.7)
  4. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
  5. specs:

  • i7 processor 8 cores, 4 physical
  • 18 gb ram
  • 64 ssd main boot drive, 1tb hd(game is installed on here)
  • crossfire radeon hd 5870s (also tried without crossfire)

So basically as i play the game i get a constant 30 frames per second(vsync) above 40(vsync off). all major graphical settings are off, like AA and AO. However, every 10 to 15 seconds the frames drop from 30 frames down to 2 frames, regardless of what i am doing(standing, moving, inside, outside). I am at a loss, i have tried playing on the lowest settings put the frames still dip. i have no idea if its a driver issue, or even an internet issue. I have no problems playing any other game i.e. bf3. only arma 2 and dayz have this problem. thanks in advance

What's running in the background? (antivirus, firewalls, stuff that sits in your system tray) - it's always worth checking that out just to be sure it's not something silly like your antivirus trying to scan files as they're accessed!

anti-virus and firewall are running in the background but there are already exceptions in place for arma2 and dayz
