Dayz open source?

after looking a while I couldn't find anything, is dayz (mod) now officially open source? License? etc.?

Google didn't help finding stuff except the github repo.

Its open source, in the way that you can change it, tweak it, and put it up on your private server. All you need to do is edit the files needed to run the mod. Iv'e never done it, so dont take my word for it.

Thats how other mods of the mod have been popping up. They edit/add on to the existing code and/or add other files that work with the existing code.

IT wont be free for all if thats what you are thinking.

Because it is all ready free you just need arma2.

but as far as open source as in ,you can change it,can,t you all ready do that with all the mods that came out like namalask?

I never said I wanted it for "free", I merely wanted to know if it is officially open source and if we are allowed to mod it or not.

Just because there are "others" (mods) doesn't mean it's legal, maybe just tolerated?
