Ghoul_Life 19 Posted June 11, 2013 So... youtubers like me would be given keys (probably at a price) early?
Zombie Jesus 723 Posted June 11, 2013 Having a high-end PC shows dedication to PC gaming, so +1 for initial SA release hardware check. As a bonus high-end PC generally indicates income and a level of maturity, so there will be less whiningfrom 12 y/o.Exactly my point. This is what "dedication" actually means, maybe you have more important things in life, I'm not here to pass moral judgement and expect same in return. But it still means you are nor dedicated enough, nothing wrong with that, just IMHO "people with more important things in life" should not be on the initial alpha players list.Derp
RollingLizard1 33 Posted June 11, 2013 First on giving early release to Youtubers and streamers. I created an account on twitch and YouTube in anticipation of the dayz stand alone. Guess I'll be beat to the exposure because I just found out about dayz a couple of weeks ago and no not on YouTube but on steam. I still shelled out like $26 Knowing the standalone would be released in less than a month, or was reported to being released, and that I would have to purchase it again. If your testing servers or the game fine I understand that in that case give it to a random 150 people. That way you will get a better demographic of your user base and the bugs or issues they may have. Second I built my first computer 8 years ago over a period of 10 months. Started with the case and added on from there each month as I could afford. Since then I have replaced bits as upgrades I wanted became available. You could look at it this way, I have an 8 year old computer that is top off the line today, and it only cost me on average $400 a year to stay on top. Doing it this way anyone could own a top gaming computer.
RJTurneR 112 Posted June 12, 2013 By the way I hate how people are saying that they have to pay for dayz twice with standalone even though they never paid for dayz just for arma2,If you watch frankie then it makes you go into dayz withdrawal till you play. Then you notice that frankie is much better then you at the game and that is not a pick up and play game, and then they wine that they have to buy the more easy to learn standalone. So if you got the mod and don,t want to pay for stand alone it is your own faultI don't feel sorry for anyone who got the mod watching Frankie, then realised the SA is 2-3 weeks away. I do feel sorry for those who caught wind of it, got ArmA/DayZ, and didn't realise SA is 2-3 weeks away. On the brightside ArmA2 is a lot of fun. The core game, DayZ, & Wasteland are all brilliant so their not losing out.As much as I credit these guys like Frankie for helping expose DayZ, they have unintentionally mislead a lot of people. Which is a shame..Too many people (Looking at a certain age group....) thought DayZ would be a cake walk. Truth is, if you ain't very good at this game.. People will struggle massively. It took me 2-3 weeks to finally go about on my own with confidence. I've played this since September and feel I have mastered the game, and also reached my endgame. I stopped playing 2 weeks ago after realising DayZ (The mod) had just run out of steam for me. SA will bring a breath of fresh air and another 50 heart attacks.I welcome it.
