Is it Still Possible to Evade Zeds?

I made a video (linked in my signature) in 1.7.1.1, that proved it was easy to evade zombies by just dancing around a tree with them.

I've been reading that zombies can hear players a lot better now, but does that mean that losing them around a tree is impossible now?

I used this method all the time, but I haven't tried it in 1.4 yet.

No it's not. I swung an axe in a building and THAT agro'd every zombie in the area. It's beyond stupid.

Yeah it's also still possible to agro them thru walls while crawling if you get too close.

I'd imagine it's going to be a long road of baby steps before they behave with any discernible logic.
