data file too short? Help?

Recommended Posts

I've got the game on disc not through steam before anyone suggests something to do with stream. I keep getting this message everytime I try to launch AO, I've tried through other launchers and through icon but I keep getting this message, the only answers I've received so far is to use steam.....

data file too short 'common/editor.pbo'. Expected -349517094 B, got 92878 B arma 2 oa

That's what I keep getting, anyone got any ideas?

Did you try reinstalling it? It seems that PBO got truncated somehow if it's only 92KB instead of 349MB.

That would be the problem, but it seems I have misplaced my OA game codes. -.-

I'm afraid there's not much anyone can do then. I believe the CD-keys are stored in the registry so you could probably get them from there.

You could always try what happens if you pop in the installation discs though, maybe it will give you the option to 'repair' the installation as certain setup programs do but that's usually business software and not games.

Revalidate your game caches for both ArmA II and ArmA II OA. If all else fails, defrag and reinstall. Also, if this happens again in future, google is your friend.

Check out this tutorial if you want to verify the game cache.

Failed to read, my bad.

If it's on a disk then uninstalling and reinstalling shouldn't be so painful. If you clear your registry of all Bohemia Interactive Studio entries that can clear up issues as well.

Open regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432node/Bohemia Interactive Studio/ArmA II OA/. There should be a value called KEY that shows when you select the ArmA II OA Folder. Copy down what it says in the 'data' section. That is your CD key, in hex format. I recommend writing it on a piece of paper.
