deadbeat 0 Posted June 19, 2012 So I have been trying to get in contact with DayZ Admin Team and then when I did they asked for the application so I sent them my server specification and got this email back.Unfortunately, the server you've listed does not match the hardware requirements of a DayZ server. One of the main bottlenecks of a DayZ server is CPU, so we require at least a quad core 3 GHz server or better. Here is the spec I sent them.CPU: Xeon W3520 @ 2.66Ram: 24GBDiskSpace: 2 TBHardDriveType: SSD & 7200 RPM Raid 0Bandwidth: 15TBNetworkSpeed: 1.0GbsOperatingSystem: Server 2008 R2And I am wondering now why they rejected my application when my cpu will out bench a Intel Xeon X5482 @ 3.20GHz so the statement they gave me above is wrong I can only think they said this because I forgot to mention that the CPU is 4x2[HT] @ 2.66GHz and not a 4x @ 2.66GHz.Has anyone else got a server running on a W3520 ?Cheers
dizzymagoo 19 Posted June 19, 2012 It will out bench it because it has 8 threads as where the X5482 doesn't. The threads won't affect the games performance, its strictly clock speed. This could be why it was denied. I have two servers. One that has two Xeon Dual Core processors at 3.1 and the other is an i5 2500k. Both were approved. Officious (DayZ) 4 Posted June 19, 2012 To me it sounds like they will just skim over the specs and if you don't meet the min right off the bat they reject you because they have so many applications.
deadbeat 0 Posted June 19, 2012 So the game does not support multi threading ? if so then you may as well run the game on a single core server, also seems badly optimised if it does not use multi threading. Also on another note as I only wanted to run one instance on that server does not seem like it would struggle due to the bonus of turbo on the 2ed Generation of Intel chips meaning our CPU under load generally sits at 2.93 GHz. dizzymagoo 19 Posted June 19, 2012 I think your server would do just fine with the game. Maybe "lie" a little about your specs, as mentioned before the devs get TONS of requests a day.
deadbeat 0 Posted June 19, 2012 @Dizzymagoo Yeah I know what you mean but I prefer to be honest with them the things that irritates me is that in a forum post only a couple down from this one someone is selling servers at the same specification as mine but with a little less ram.So the system for getting a server seems very disorganised I understand they are busy though and I am more than happy to wait my turn for a reply just wish they would put a little more thought into the process considering all i really want to do is help the community by putting another well preformed and up to date server up. PITN (DayZ) 2 Posted June 20, 2012 The single most important factor for an Arma server is clockspeed followed by bandwidth. Arma likes to use 2 cores and will almost always max out the first core. If you want a smooth playing experiance then you need to buff those stats first.
mattlightfoot 2463 Posted June 20, 2012 Dear Deadbeat,You are absolutely correct currently the method of dealing with server hosters isn't the best, we are working on an updated and more efficient system which will hopefully be up by the end of the week. (All things being equal)The previous system of it being handle via email was originally set up mostly by myself when we had only 4 servers to deal with and everything from community questions to server hosting enquiries went to dayzdevteam@gmail.com. <--- EMAIL ACCOUNT NOT IN USE DO NOT EMAIL THIS ACCOUNT WE WILL NOT REPLYWhen that email account was flooded it was apparent that we needed to move to another system, which was separate accounts for Staff and server admin to be linked by the contact form.Magnet is currently pulling an absolutely astounding job at handling the Staff emails so that area is fine however, as you are all aware the server admin email has been flooded so it has become apparent that we need a more updated system, this will be a ticket system are very close to releasing.I apologise for the misinformation this is a supported chip and someone will be in touch extremely shortly again I apologise. deadbeat 0 Posted June 20, 2012 Thank you for the reply and clarification Matt. It's good to see a reply from the staff and I understand mistakes can be made when the system is overflowing like that and I'm looking forward to see your new and improved method which seems like it should solve the issue and make things a lot easier for you guys.Again thank you for the reply it is much appreciated. moto 0 Posted June 20, 2012 I wonder if I done something wrong on the e-mail I sent there is a mix of info so I pretty much requested the details they need some time ago via the contact form. If I did something wrong when reaching out to DayZ team will I be alerted so I can fix the problem? Also where is this app to fill out?Like I said there is a mix of dated and up to date info on the subject. It may been right in front my face and I missed it, I figured as well I would wait a few more days before trying to reach out a 2nd time. I figured people sending multi emails are not helping clear the cue. ;]Thank You!
mattlightfoot 2463 Posted June 20, 2012 contact form is the right way to go for now, however if I were you I'd wait till the ticket system is used and try and be one of the first on that :D while we are working through the email backlog.
