That other guy is lying, you can equip the chicken in your primary gun slot and shoot eggs at other survivors. Once you find a knife you have a choice between making wings (they have boneless and traditional) or a KFC 8 Piece Bucket. I go with the 8 piece bucket but that is just preference.
