Performance Question

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right place but here I go.

I've done sort of a half build with an i5 3550P, 8 GB RAM and just bought a GTX660.

I run the game at 1080p generally "normal" settings and my frames drop to 15-25 in large towns and when flying sometimes.

Now, I can get a good deal on an i7 3770K and was wondering if that will boost my frames signifcantly 10-15 fps??? To where it's very playable (min 30fps all the time) b/c I know this is a lower end i5. Or should I keep my i5 and sell the i7 and the gtx 660 for a 670 or 680??? Please share your thoughts and the systems you play on and the performance you get. I'm looking to run 1080p medium-high at no less than 30fps. I really want this game to run well and of course the standalone which I know will be optimized but I want an awesome experience. Thank you for your thoughts!

try turning off AA and post process because 15-25 is way to low for those specs. Also try some other servers with better ping

Edit: The performance gain from going to a 3770k is notacable but I wouldn't expect anything more than 10 fps. A 3350P is capable enough

Edit: also if you have a ridiculously old hard drive that can cause massive frame drops when zooming in and turning ( loading in new models/textures basically)

If I turn off AA it doesnt look at smooth and I like it to look good so I keep it at low :)

Dont get me wrong when Im outside of large cities i get 30-50 no prob

It's when Im in a firefight in cherno or electro its hard to be on top of my game at 20fps ya know

My computer is brand new basically so is the HDD

Post process is disabled.I'll prolly just drop in the 3770k and hope for the best as a 680 is $500 but I guess it could drop since the 780 just came out.

So i just relized that my CPU is a 3350P i5 which is why it's not running as it should. Def gonna drop the i7 in there and should see a performance increase!

Yes, take the i7.

ArmA is very CPU dependent. Moreso than other games.

P.S. This would go in the Troubleshooting section. But no worries.
