Most definitely the CPU this game runs heavy on the CPU I have a i7-3770K clocking at 4.2 and it still uses around 30 percent of my cpu. I have the MSI 7870 so there isn't much difference in our gpu and I hold 60 everywhere but cherno and elektro where if the server isn't lagging I get no less than 40 and the lowest I have ever seen is 30 on a large server. That's with everything on high except hdr resolution and 3D at 1920x1080. I suggest a cpu upgrade sir.

Okay , but i only have fps problems in Dayz.

Battlefield 3 runs on High Setting on 1920x1080 with 40+ fps , so does Metro 2033 , Skyrim etc..

And while playing Dayz my CPU doenst use more then 40%. I could try to overclock it to 3,4 Ghz.

Battlefield, metro and skyrim are more GPU intensive games and Arma 2 is more CPU instensive, you can try overclock to 3.4 Ghz.

But i highly recommend just getting a upgrade on your CPU

Indeed, the problem is your CPU. The Q6600 is horribly outdated and ARMA games are all about the CPU.

You'll need a CPU, motherboard and most likely RAM (assuming that's DDR2 based on how old the CPU is) upgrade to get DayZ running smoothly.

You should aim for a recent quad-core that hits above 3Ghz. The i5 2500k or 3570k would be great choices, or the FX-6100 from AMD if you want to save yourself some cash.

As mZLY said, a great choice would be an i5 2500k. Make sure it is the 'k' version so you can OC that bitch.

CPU CPU CPU. You could have a ASUS Ares II Video card and that processor and youd get shit framerate.

Heres how it works;

In ARMA, the GPU is used for rendering the world, and allowing for a better visual apperance. it will only affect teh framerate by 10-15%. the CPU does all the processing power, thus, having a quadcore over a dual core gives much better frame rates.

The i5 2500k with that 7850 OC will give you a pretty great game play FPS
