After beta patch, can't even load ARMA, much less DayZ!

I've been messing with this damned thing all day, and finally narrowed down the primary culprit: the beta patch. Here's my process of installing everything, using Steam:

1. Download ARMA 2. Run it. Quit.

2. Download Operation Arrowhead. Run it. Quit.

3. Use Worrom's updater with a mirror generously provided by someone in GenDis. Everything works fine, I can get in and join servers, but every server that I can access drops me into a field with nothing. Sometimes I can move, more often than not I can't.

It was at this point that things were pretty much at their peak in terms of functionality. Then I installed the beta(98325) because it seemed like many servers are now running that particular patch.

After I installed it, I now have the following experience trying to run DayZ from Worrom's installer:

1. I hit play with "Launch Beta" checked.

2. I get "No entry '.profilePathDefault'.

3. I hit "OK" on this error and the checkboxes come up as if the game is loading

4. I get "bin\config.bin/CfgWeapons/G36_C_SD_eotech/Burst/: Cannot find base class 'Burst'"

Dead stop. Program doesn't load after that point. The latest patch certainly seems to be the culprit, but I also tried the patch ending in 701, and had the same issues. Any advice or help on what I can edit or change in settings or files to get me past this? I was hardcore playing this game for days up until yesterday.

All right, I seem to have made progress. By copying ArmA2OA.exe from:

C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta

to:

C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead

I can now at least load the game. I'm still spawning in a field, but that's a hell of a lot better than not being able to run it at all!
