Problem getting Extra Mouse Buttons to Work in DayZ

Recommended Posts

I bought the "Logitech MX Anywhere" mouse which has a center button beneath the scroll-wheel, and 2-"buttons" activated when you nudge the scroll wheel left or right.

The configuration software works for Arma2, those extra mouse buttons do what I want in Arma2 (G-gear, R-reload, V-vault) but they don't work when I run DayZ.

Is there something I need to trigger, script, load?

Help please!

p.s.: I'm a lefty, that is why I use the symmetrical mouse as opposed to the "right handed contoured" mice everyone else can enjoy.

SeaMan: Yeah, I like the mouse wheel side-to-side buttons, they're convenient for me (esp. as a lefty). What "keyboard" buttons do folks like to "bind" to their extra mouse buttons?

I found someone who was having similar problems (in the forum) but I don't know if this (below) fixed the problem...

Your Arma II / DayZ Commander starts with administrator privileges, you have to start your mouse customization software as an administrator as well, I was having the same problem until I found out why. Press Ctrl-Shift-Esc, find your mouse software executable, open the executable location. Then close the process, go where the executable is, right-click it and in properties go to compatibility. Check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator". You will need to start it manually when you reboot from now on because it can't run as admin by itself on startup. Hope this helps.

Additionaly, I found this app:

Which might work. I'll have to try it and report back to you after I test it.

Stink'n POS Setpoint Logitech ghetto crappolla MX Nowhere-mouse still doesn't work (button-wise) in DayZ. Feel like smashing it with a hammer to vent my frustration. I know there's a solution, but there doesn't seem to be a clear path to it.

The extra buttons work in Arma2, and in other programs, but in DayZ - NaDa, Zippo, Zilch.

Hmmmm maybe I need to have Set Point "see" DayZ Commander?

Okay, once more into the breach!

Have you tried moving the key binding from arma2 to your ArmA 2 other Profiles profile?

I'll definitely give that a try. Thank you

Problem = Solved.

Holey Moley, that took ages!

For the Logitech MX Anywhere mouse, it uses the "Set-Point" software to set-up the extra mouse buttons and how they interact with different programs. BUT, those mouse buttons won't do anything unless you enter in all of the various EXE apps that the program will "search for" and then make the buttons specifically active (in the particular configuration you wanted).

Thought I had all of the EXEs listed, but apparently did not. After just piling in nearly everything that touches DayZ to run and resetting the computer, it worked.

Terrific... because I was "this" (millimeter) close to buying the Steel Series Sensei mouse... Ah well... Maybe just each lunch for a month instead.
