zzADRiANzz 0 Posted May 14, 2013 I can run Dayz with a solid 30-70 fps but when I start recording with Dxtory I loss about 10-30 frames its REALLY annoying and I have no idea how to fix this. Help please!!!
fatherjohn 143 Posted May 15, 2013 that's because you're recording to the same hard drive I'm guessing? That's what happens if you don't use record to a separate drive, usually.
fully 51 Posted May 15, 2013 Yep it is the way it is.You have to take your pick between small loss of fps and big recorded file sizes from fraps or bigger fps loss and smaller files with dxtory.I use dxtory.
dotPeanuts 0 Posted May 15, 2013 It can also depend on what settings you are using for DXTORY. Do not do any changes if you do not know what you are doing.Reset DXTory to it's default settings if you have made any.Use this codec.http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html

So say I got an external hard drive and made the recording go directly there would that help?
fatherjohn 143 Posted May 15, 2013 I'm not the expert on this so I can't say for sure. Theoretically it should help because you'd then not be recording and writing the the same drive that's running your game, but I don't know enough about external hard drives and if they are slower to write to than internal drives.
