I really hope DayZ SA doesn't turn into a military simulator. I'm glad all signs point away from this.

EDIT: I hope in the SA you can find something like this and there is no possibly of ever finding ammo for it. Now that would be awesome.

Might just want to tweak the title, then. It seems like it's a bit difficult to grasp.

Anyway, these would obviously be incredibly rare. Rare far beyond the current definitions of "rare". It should be something that you actually get giddy when you stumble across one, and become visibly excited. It should make your day. Not like the current run on the NWAF that yields two M4s and an M240. It wouldn't be game-breaking if it were actually that rare. It would also be something that people wouldn't want to risk on a basic run on Cherno. It would obviously have to have many, many flaws. Obviously it would replace your backpack, and since most DayZ players seem to treasure 24 slots of backpack just as much, if not more than, an automatic weapon, it would have to be something used tactically. Plus it would take at least a pair of people to move. And, finally, it would tear through ammo.

I was thinking about the possibility of (in the event that the hueys are taken out of the game) using a toolkit to take weapon parts off of heli wrecks. A large vehicle or multiple people would be required to carry the various pieces, 1, and 2, the frustrating possibility that 1 required piece of 10 has a 90% spawn likelihood and the last 2 have a .05% chance. Getting the parts together to make your gun, then, would take FOREVER; going out and hunting wrecks, anyone?

However that's not the main issue I'd have :P if there was gonna be a mounted machine gun, I'd wanna see a PKM or a DShK instead of a British or American weapon. Perhaps even a truck-mounted one...

PKM should definitely be a drop in the standalone but it's not that heavy of a gun that you need 2 people to carry it. I'd prefer to run around the place with a PKM (i loved it in AA2) even if it means having to go prone every time I actually want to hit anything. I love the idea of a pickup truck that has a machinegun mounted to it's back, it's like right from my dayz survival fantasy
