jordnz 102 Posted April 25, 2012 With the Steam version of ArmA 2 Combined Ops, you need to do the following;1. Download the latest files from here: http://www.mediafire.com/dayz2. Extract the .rar files with something like winZIP or 7-ZIP (the latter is best, imo)3. Go to your directory of ArmA 2 OA: /Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead/4. Within this directory/folder, create a new folder called: @dayz5. Within the new '@dayz' folder, create another called: AddOns (/@dayz/AddOns/)6. Take the extracted .pbo files from step 2 (not their corresponding folders) and place them ALL within the newly created 'AddOns' folder.7. Right click on ArmA 2 OA in steam and go to 'Properties' then 'Launch Options' and within the parameter type: -mod=@dayz8. Launch the game using Combined Ops launch method (at the bottom of the launch box that appears when you launch ArmA 2 OA, or right click and select it), and you're good to go.NOTES: When updating your game files, check the changelog as it mentions the .rar that you need to download (usually this is the dayz_code file only). You shouldn't generally need to re-download the entire bunch. Then just replace the older files (according to the changelog) in your 'AddOns' folder with the newly updated ones (Copy and Replace with Windows 7 when prompted). Also, when installing ArmA 2 and OA through Steam for the first time, apparently it pays to download and launch ArmA 2 first before doing the same for OA (somethign to do with directory creation). I'm not sure if this really matters or not, so someone else will have to confirm this, though I have seperate Steam directories for 'arma 2' and 'arma 2 operation arrowhead' and have had no issues with DayZ. Your /Program Files/ directory will be under a drive name as well (if your using 64bit OS, it will be /Program Files(x86)/Steam/...) - it could be C:/, D:/, etc, depending on what your main drive is for your OS unless you have specified otherwise (usually this is C:/ drive); find your drive through 'My Computer'. Finally, before going into a server, you can check that your game recognizes DayZ by looking at the top right of the main menu (should say 'arma 2' and then '@dayz' under it. You can also check in the 'Expansions' option on the main menu screen (look again for '@dayz'). This guide is for people who aren't familiar with their Steam directory, so I apologize for the excessive detail. It also only applies to the Steam version. If anyone else with Steam had installed it a different way (some peoples ArmaA 2 OA directories may be different for whatever reason) please feel free to add to this.Hope this helps. Currahee (DayZ) 0 Posted April 25, 2012 Thanks a lot, it looks to be going well except when I click multiplayer nothing shows up, no servers for Dayz, but not even regular servers as well.
jordnz 102 Posted April 25, 2012 Gamespy had issues the other day, so chances are they might be now (I haven't played DayZ in a couple of days because I can't get into the OZ server - always full, so can't tell you what the situation is). This means that no servers will show up in the browser. You can however connect via 'Remote' to that servers IP still.Another thing to check is that; if you have used the remote option, the 'Address' down the bottom left of your browser will still only show remote servers - clicking it a few times will get you back to 'Internet' and if GameSpy is working correctly, your server list should come back up.
