Overhaul the thirst/hunger system!

Recommended Posts

The food and water mechanics in DayZ certainly add a fair amount of immersion, but they could easily be significantly improved.

Instead of a can of Coke or a water bottle bringing the meter back to 100%, it should work more as a proper "measurement"; soda would only restore ~20% of your thirst, water ~50%, etc. The same goes for food: You'd benefit more from a steak than a can of beans, an MRE is better than a bag of pistachios, and so forth.

It would make the food/water mechanic so much more effective, as you would need to constantly make sure your water bottles are full or you have plenty of Pepsi in your pack.

From what I understand, the type of food and water indicates how long the counter takes to run down. A steak lasts longer then a can of Beans ... water lasts longer then a soda ... or at least this is what I understood.

Don't quote me ... I may be wrong. :)

You may be right, I haven't really paid much attention to the meters... I might do a bit of science this weekend, on an empty server ♥

Even if it already does to an extent, it may be of benefit to make the effects a bit more apparent. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't have even noticed yet!
