DayZ Medical System Explained -Discussion Inbound-

Recommended Posts

Okay Ill write two Versions one long and one short. This is a way to explain to the forum community how the Medical system will basically work in the Stand-Alone

-NOTE- This isnt 100% confirmed but rocket has talked alot about this and this is probably bare-bones to what he really has in store for us when the SA comes in its late stages.

Short Version

Your character will have 3-4 levels of health

blood

consciousness

Nutrition

and lastly Overall well-being

As the overall well-being goes down the max blood that can be attained goes down.

maintaining a good nutrition level and blood level will cause the Well-being level to rise

end of short version

-Long version-

Okay so If you read above there are around 3-4 levels of your characters health

So some people may be wondering "How will these work exactly?"

Well If you take brute force blood damage (meaning a pistol shot to the torso)

Your blood will drop and the lower your blood goes the lower your well-being becomes.

Now say that you take 6000 blood damage, you attack another player who has a lee-enfeild and he manages to shoot you once before you squeeze off that head-shot with your trusty side-arm

You patch up loot him and run off, now there are some drawbacks to getting shot

1. you are at half blood now

2. your health level is now lets hypothetically say moderately wounded

What does this mean? well this means that you can no longer restore blood past a certain point, since the SA isn't out lets just say you now have a blood cap of 8k

Oh no! now there are some real effects of getting into a gunfight with strangers you see. -possible KOS solution-

now the next point is how do we get that blood to go back to 12k?

Well if you keep your current blood level maxed so 8k and have the hunger and thirst meter up then eventually you will return the the healthy state again and it will become possible to get 12k blood

More cause and effect

If you are playing a character who is a good "doctor" I say doctor because rocket brought up making a way for you to get better at fixing people ect.

there could be a possibility to patch yourself up more efectivley and not loose as much on that "well-being" level

say you bandage that wound and it doesn't do too much other than stop the bleeding then you will suffer alot more then lets say you treat the wound and fix it up right. (not going to go into detail on that)

Now Hunger and Nutrition have been talked about by rocket but I haven't been able to gather enough to speculate/confirm anything other than the fact that eating a variety of food (not soda and beans) will cause you to have a better nutrition level.

A system like this has limitless possibilities so we can only hope and wait to see what comes.

I could really see people thinking twice about getting into a gun fight with a stone solid medical system that had serious consequences for shooting everything on site.

I could probably write alot more on this but I think this gives enough to make good conversation.

I open to all sorts of ideas. A more complicated system but it should make medical issues more serious, in that they can't be solved easily with a quick bloodbag or just by eating some wabbit.

Anything that encourages a bit of interaction, and lessens the KOS mentality, without being totally detrimental to the lone wolf (me) would be great.

I think they should stick to the amount of "blood" normal Arma 2 has.

Well in real life taking alot of bodily harm isn't healthy

Therefore if you keep the character in good being he will live healthy just like in real life

-Looks pretty damn good to me-
