Do not my friend. You have to put your hand out every now and then. I've been killed many a time by people turning when I ask them if they are friendly.

It's the ones that agree who make stories worth telling ;)

There are friendly people out there though. It's just, the question you should ask is not "are you friendly?" but "do you need any help?" All saying friendly means is that you don't want to be shot, which is the case for anyone, so asking that is silly. If you ask if they need help you are showing you will be some use to them in their survival, and shouldn't kill you, at least right away. Still be cautious of course, but that's a better way to get a coversation going.

You will be shot in your face. Repeatedly. And you will be shot in your back.

Do not give in though, because if you become a soulless husk, hostile to anybody, you are not more than the infected.

if they dont have a mic shoot them, if they do and you don't trust their voice shoot them.

If you are not sure that of the answer just pop one in their legs that way you make sure they will not run too far in case they decide to attack.
