Incredibly low FPS

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'd just like to go ahead and say that I've went through the tweaking tips, and I run everything pretty much on the lowest setting available.

I have an HP laptop: (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03091347)

I really don't feel like the game should be so unplayable with this newer laptop. I can't see how many frames I get but if I had to make an educated guess it's 5-10 fps.

Also, I made sure that my graphics card driver was up to date yesterday. I'm just posting this after about 6 hours or failed troubleshooting yesterday in hopes that someone with more capability than myself will help me.

Thanks it advance.

Radeon™ HD 6490M switchable graphics

Your graphics card is about as crappy as it can get.

I suggest you return your laptop and get something better like this:

Another way is building a desktop PC and buying cheap netbook for mobile stuff. You can get netbook and desktop PC that can easily run ArmA 2 for around $1000.

edit: So there's nothing wrong with the game, your laptop is just way too slow for any modern game.

This was my biggest fear. :/ thanks.

Can you still return your new laptop?

If you can I'm sure there are lot's of people here who can advice on what to get to replace it.

GPU support is horrid now. Any city I go to my FPS is less than 20 100% of the time. GG for old issues rising up...

I have a Toshiba L650-11F:

i5 430M,

ATI M Radeon HD 5650 1gb,

4gb RAM,

5400rpm hard drive.

I should be able to run Arma2 smoothly based on my results on the system requirements but DayZ tends to run at below 20fps most of the time, on all settings lowest and native resolution (1360x768). The fps seems to vary between servers, I can sometimes get a smooth experience on some servers (30+fps).

Is the fps thing an issue that may be resolved with further hotfixes or is it down to my hardware? I know my laptop isn't the most high-end but considering the fact that it can run games like Alan Wake and MW3 on highest settings, I kind of expected it to be able to run a 2010 game without any issues.

Give me some good news guys, I am starting to see real life at 20fps.
