Mr Mouse 61 Posted May 3, 2013 FPS is not graphics card dependant, especially when it comes to the DayZ mod. What are your computer specifications?

Felixthefriendlycat 92 Posted May 3, 2013 FPS is not graphics card dependant, especially when it comes to the DayZ mod. What are your computer specifications?Incorrect, it is both very CPU and graphics dependent. A config 3770K + gtx 660 will outperform a 3770K + HD7770.Its just that the game uses way more cpu than regular games.

Felixthefriendlycat 92 Posted May 3, 2013 what? That CPU right there, that is the cause of your problem. Arma 2 is very dependent on performance per core. That CPU is pretty cheap, add on top of that its a 4 core the performance per core isn't sufficient.

Heathcz 84 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) another guy thinks dayz needs a good GPUbtw you wont ever run dayz properly with that cpu, get atleast 3GHz to have a smooth dayz with nice graphics Edited May 3, 2013 by Heathcz
Felixthefriendlycat 92 Posted May 3, 2013 whnat do you think i should do ? i want to make videos?Well I'd suggest a better CPU but since that CPU is an FM1 socket you'll need to buy a new motherboard making it an expensive upgrade. Why would you go with an FM1 in the first place? It is definately not suited for gaming purposes. 1155 is about the equivalent price and offers a lot more
SilverBulleT (DayZ) 3 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) Your CPU (APU) is bottlenecking you. Arma 2 is fairly CPU dependant, more so than a lot of other games (as others have already said). This is why you get decent FPS in skyrim (GPU dependant), but suffer in games that are CPU dependant, like Arma 2.You really should have a 6 - 8 core processor thats pushing at least 3GHz or more - something like an Intel 2600k (or better) or a AMD FX-8120 (or better).I have an AMD FX-8120 (overclocked to 4ghz) and an nvidia 560ti (448 cores), and still only get around 30-40 fps on max settings. When I'm playing Taviana and enter some big cities I can even drop down to 25fps... In BF3, or Skyrim, I get 40-60+ fps, as those games rely that much more on the GPU then the CPU. Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted May 3, 2013 Just hop out and buy the following:Intel i7-3970X Extreme Edition 3.5GHz w/ 15MB CacheAnd for a Mobo:Asus Z9PE-D8 WS w/ DDR3 CrossfireX/ SLIJust a cheap little upgrade, should only run you around $1,730 CAD. Best of luck, and let the frames flow.

narwaljunior 18 Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) I have a AMD 8150 CPU and a Nvidia Asus Gtx 560 Ti 1GB as my graphics card. Normally I run Dayz on high with 40 fps but it dips down to 15 fps periodically. Research on this has led me to believe that my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU which explains why the game sufferes dips in fps problems and not a constant low level of fps. My advice is to go Intel and not AMD. I will probably never buy one again since Intel seem to be better for gaming at the moment.(Probably a dust issue on the CPU preventing it from cooling, gonna apply new thermal paste after some dusting.)
