RabidDiabetic 63 Posted May 3, 2013 Alright guys I just came back this week from about a 6-month hiatus. I was never really that great to begin with I just stuck to small servers with a buddy. I managed to find a private hive I like. It has increased vehicle spawns but not hundreds extra like some servers.I got my hands on a Ural and Off road truck after some repairs and hid them in the woods in what I thought would be out of the way and fairly safe. I tried to put trees between them and the area I felt would be most likely to be traveled if at all.I'm really looking for a place that a vehicle of this size can be hidden and won't be found. Please send me your suggestion in PM.As a general question that can be answered openly do you guys find the best hiding place to be in the woods on the Northern or Southern half of the map? jdtherocker 37 Posted May 3, 2013 Somewhere that noone really walks through it can be an industrial area in the back where there are no items and you can shoot out a tire so that its lest likely to be stolen.
RabidDiabetic 63 Posted May 3, 2013 Well currently the Ural has a bunch of vehicle parts stashed in it that I scavenged from other cars and parts of the map so I don't think it would slow them down too much haha. When I hide vehicles I try to think of hiding it from myself. I usually check out every town I pass but I'm not as thorough in the woods for obvious reasons. Then I think about sight from the air because there are some clans that play on server and have helis. Then I look at nearby towns and fastest route between them by both straight line and roads. The place I have them now I feel could only be spotted by a heli taking the exact right path or a person on foot who just happens to be in the middle of nowhere. I'm hoping there is a better spot though lolRabid

Benderz of Hell 3 Posted May 3, 2013 The best place to hide it is the worst place to travel. If you want to find a good hiding spot, it's definitely not going to be anywhere on the given map. You must drive outside the boundaries and into the debug for a good stash spot. I suggest somewhere north/northeast of the NWAF, as there are roads within close proximity of the debug plains/forest that are easy to get back onto and travel into the map. With that off-road you should have no trouble going to and fro.

RabidDiabetic 63 Posted May 3, 2013 you dont. admin logs in sees all gear. you login all gone.welcome to dayz admin tools.Don't really see why, if an admin can spawn items why steal items? I also trust my admins pretty well. I mean I heard of that happening on the LaughingMan server because they gave full admin tools to a lesser admin but I think only the main two admins on the server I play on have those tools. And typically they aren't even playing they are helping new players get introduced to the game and coming up with events/ideas to improve server. Now I'm risking someone from these forums logging on and searching for my vehicles but I'm quite sure I'm safe from my admins :)

Saethkept 134 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) The best gift an admin/server owner can give to any player base is to return the full degree of freedom that DayZ allows in the first place. I played on an awesome server once called 'Worldwide Infection' which died with the transition to 1.7.5.1. After weeks playing on that server I never once noticed sign or presence of an admin - though I suspected one of the regular players might have been one. Basically, all the admin stuff was in the background and we players were free to do as we pleased without fear of interference from a heavy handed admin. How that server was never hacked (was not whitelisted) I do not know.On topic, not all private hive admins will mess with your hidden camps/vehicles/bases. I will only do so if a player hides a tent or vehicle within texture gaps, or loot generating buildings. Finally, the best place to hide your gear is the place you never reveal. Theft is part of the game and if you are stashing vehicles in the debug, you are removing them from the map and taking them out of the game. In other words, douchebaggery.

SilverBulleT (DayZ) 3 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) The most obvious advice is not to stash it in the direct path between two cities, cities/airfields, etc.Print off the map you play on from a site like DayZ db (or just use your imagination) and draw lines between all of the well traveled routes. Placing your tent, or stashing vehicles in (wooded) areas 500m-1k+ away from those direct routes will significantly decrease the chance that a player will find your stuff -- only players who are deliberately camp hunting may stumble across it.That being said - if you play on a popular server 30+ people, it's only a matter of time before somebody has the same idea for a camp location as you. Devon206 (DayZ) 77 Posted May 4, 2013 Hide it in a tent.
Rekli 995 Posted May 4, 2013 Look for an area with dense pines combined with a steep down-slope. This way players above the vehicle will not see it as they look out over the slope, and players below will not see it as they look up into the trees.
ingruo 5 Posted May 4, 2013 You want a great spot use the one I used to, All the way north east above the dam up there. Its a field but so out of the way no one ever bothers to look up there. Had 3 helicopters, an offroad, ural, and dirt bike hidden along with multiple tents never got robbed. The death that came upon it all was the server hosts reseting their database. JeffDetroit 717 Posted May 5, 2013 Best way to hide your vehicles? In the middle of the NW Airfield, with a satchel charge armed and ready to blow - and about 10 minutes of waiting time in the trees. (evil snicker)
