simfreek@hotmail.com 48 Posted April 27, 2013 Back when I admined a server, we bounced around looking for players. I enjoyed the Taviana map the most, though, the most popular map is Cherno. Most people don't like down loading maps, and many players who are not in the united states have to pay for every MB they use. So many don't like to download maps. Also, the server owner said it would take him two days to download a map and he lived in Britan. There is nothing wrong with having friendly admins, just avoid being a carebear server. Many server owners like to have a custom load out of a side arm, a rifle, and ammo to go with it, along with a larger back pack. Avoid this as many players are looking for the challeng in the first place. We had a custom load out our selves. Added road flares, we belived that the risk level of using them in the first place was high enough that spawning in with them wouldn't be a benifit of atuly having them. We then took the backpack away as well. This forced you to manage your priorities to actuly survive. Making even that starter backpack a tresure when you came upon it.We tried a number of scripts, one that I had a lot of fun with was the ability to use the V22, and the large helicopter to pick up vehicles and move them to other places. This was had a lot of issues and we eentualy had to pull it. It kept kicking players for teleporting, or spawining in a vehicle when ever they dropped it. Some times it worked with out any issues. The other script that many on the server liked was the script that even counted movment as being in combat. This prevented players from running into a city with a train of zombies and then logging out and logging back in to reset the zombies. Of course on our server, combat logging was a bannable offence. We even upped how many zombies would spawn per person, but this started to take our server to a more hard core community and we started to loose players. So we tried to keep things balanced while still trying to lean to making it tough at the same time.

I can't count the times I've killed a helicopter with one. Oh wait, normal people have yet to master the roadflare. Carry on :P
Saethkept 134 Posted April 27, 2013 I run a Tavi server which I hope will eventually garner some interest. Namalsk is always popular as a new player can hop in and quickly find good equipment. I had thought about running a Takistan server as with the update to 1.7.5.1 the zombies are quite difficult and numerous but Takistan is somewhat bland in my opinion as it is all desert. I think you would do better with either Namalsk, Taviana or maybe something newer like Oring.
simfreek@hotmail.com 48 Posted April 28, 2013 I havn't been able to play for the last month, but if the hacking is still an issue. What helped us is having "Active Admins" in our server name. Of course, at this point, you realy do need to have active admins. And Admins you can trust. The host we used, had a player tracking map. That would leave lines on the map on where you had been, and where you were currently. You could click on thier name and see what gear they had as well. Excelent tool for finding your TPers or those who "might" be using ESP. Down side is that horrible admins will abuse this, using it to "find" other players, normaly to shoot them. One of our admins had access to the database and changed his health score 24,000 instead of the defualt 12,000. He said it was to help against hostile Players. That was BS. Admins are not special. As to why I said Admins "should" be friendly is becuase of the drama that comes from other players when an admin some how seems to be able to find players consistetly, and they are a bandit admin. Had this same problem as well with another admin.
