Fair sure both are two hit torso kills on zombies and two hit downs on players. Obviously one hit to head kills both.

What you should keep in mind is that the m4a3 is essentially a carbine so whilst it is very good up close and has a very nice sight it loses accuracy after about 200 meters whereas the m16 can be very effective for more than 3 times that range.

also is there a chart that shows the damage of all weapons?

just look at the caliber. in vanilla ArmA2 that's the only thing affecting damage AFAIK.

they're both 5.56

An M249 SAW is also 5.56, but I'm pretty sure it has better damage.

m16 has aweful ironsights though so while it is much more accurate over 200m you will barely be able to see your target to take advantage of this feature anyways imo

How does the M16A2 have awful ironsights? I have never had problems with hitting targets at 200-300m with it in ArmA/ArmA II. You're just spoiled by collimators.

Speaking of collimators rocket should add batteries for them so running around with it requires you to find some extra items. As it is now they have infinite batteries sadly, just like in vanilla ArmA II.

Heres a quick damage chart:

5.56 - 2 shots to the torso to kill.

7.62x39 - 7.62x54 - 1 bullet kill

.45 - 1 shot kill

9mm (makarov,g17) - 2 or 3 shots to torso to kill

CZ750 - 1 shot kill

I don't know if this apply to survivors, but every headshots with any caliber instantly kills.

american weapons in general have terrible ironsighs i think, but its down to personal preferance, i much prefer pistol/russian iron sights.

You do realize the modern milspec Aimpoints have a minimum rated battery life of 30,000 hours, and some of theirs have 50,000 hours.

A friend and I both have m4a3's, and we kill zombies with 1-2 bullets to the chest. I don't know if there's a difference between upper chest and lower chest.

Funnily enough most people are the opposite in real life, general consensus is that the kalashnikov isn't the inaccurate piece of crap people stereotype it to be, the sights just aren't suitable for long range shooting.

They arent in the game. You just found a TXT file that is just a rough draft of how he wanted to sort the weapons; its not actually part of the game code nor a official classification.
