DayZ 2017 Questions

A just played 2017 for the first time and have a few question.

Firstly, Many tin cans!!!!!!!!

Second, I went to 2 small towns and a few barns and there were NO zombies! Why werent they there?

Third, I encountered 18 dead player bodies in 44 minutes of playing. Is this normal?

Fourth, where is the best spot for basic loot? Hopefully where there is a couple cans of beans in those piles of empty cans.

Sounds like a buggy server. Probably needed a reboot.

As for basic loot, your best bet is a supermarket, or barns. You've probably got your best chance at finding a weapon in a barn, and backpacks etc. in supermarkets.

I haven't played 2017 in a couple months though, so they may have changed things.

Edit: Food is supposed to be hella rare in 2017, so if you find dog food or beans, consider yourself lucky. Most food should be hunted for.
