Need help with firewall config

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

what TCP and UDP Ports do I need to open to allow DayZ and DayZ Commander for outgoing traffic?

I'd need to know the ports as a client, not for a server.

I already searched for the respective ports but just found server configurations.

Thanks in advance.

What firewall software do you use? Most firewalls will ask you wether you want to allow / accept outgoing and incoming connections, it does depend on your settings though.

And another question, any chance you are behind a router? In that case you might have to set some port-forwarding rules in the router's config.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using the Windows 8 default firewall which is configured to block every incoming or outgoing traffic as long it is not defined in a allowed rule.

There's no router to configure since I'm online with an umts stick.

(Yep, very high ping, but somehow works. ^^)

I turned my firewall off, not really recommended but if you are careful online and have good antivirus software then that's an option.

Turning off the firewall is kind of the worst thing one can do. There's no real safety at all though, even with firewall. But I wouldn't let all my ports open. There are lots of people driving around an scanning networks for easy victims. I also don't like to have many programs calling home for whatever reason. This is the main reason why I set it so strict.

Allowing all TCP and UDP ports for the Arma2OA.exe for outgoing traffic works and should be save enough though.

I just started to define the ports.

Yep, I'm aware that if someone really would want to brake in, probably would succeed anyway. But would you like to let your door open to anyone?

Opportunity makes a thief.

You got balls, I'll give you that.

Ken, I think you're on the right track there. If you're using the default FW and it's got everything blocked by default you have to add an Alllow-rule for the Arma2OA.exe. If you're not behind a router, that should be it.
