Got day Z today...HELP!!!!

Recommended Posts

So I got day z and had a lot of problems, where do I begin???

First off, finding a server....what the hell???? I either get a connection failed or I just flat out can't get onto a server

Now and then I'll find one that works..now this is really fun....I'm a bird...or..I get a black screen with the words please wait while getting player data...or something to the effect...or my computer just crashes and I have to reboot....I run a Alienware computer so I'm not understanding what's going on..I far exceed what's required to run the game.

I have played twice, and really enjoyed it, but the frustration of it hardly working is making me want to throw my computer out the window....

Can anyone help me please....I'm tearing my hair out here!!!!!

Calm down and give us more info we can use. Where did buy the game? Where have you downloaded thing? What have you downloaded? What server browser are you using? Which servers did work?

Delete your @DayZ folder and reinstall the latest ARMA 2 beta patch and mod using DayZ Commander...

http://www.dayzcommander.com/

If you spawned as a bird then there's a problem with your installation.

Also Alienware PCs aren't the be all and end all that people think they are, if you've maxed the settings out then turn them down a bit. The X51 won't run max settings.

Alienware should be shut down and burned to the ground i don't see how they can live with themselves. The bottom x51 has a i3 a GTX645 and 6gb of 1333ghz and they are charging £600 for it!!!

it is annoying people think them the ultimate pc when all they are, are pretty leds without any real computer. you can buy much better pre-builts for the same price.

1) Run steam as ADMIN

2) Download, install and run ArmA II (close it down when you get to the main menu, single/multi/options etc)

3) Download, install and run ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead

4)Download, install and run DayZ Commander

at the top over to the right you will see install/update, click it to open update window

4.1) use commander to update ArmA 2: 103419 (this is the arma beta, the number will change upon a new release of beta)

4.2) use commander to install DAYZ (first option under "Mods")

4.3) continue down the list installing the DayZs you want to play

4.4) Once you have finished installing what you want/need click "done" at the bottom of the commander page (next to refrash versions)

5) on the left hand side of the Commander screen you will see server filter options

5.1) use the first drop down box to select the mod you want to play (DayZ, DayZ+, Namalsk, Origins etc)

5.2) wait for the servers to load in the main window and sort them by ping

5.3) find a server with a ping and number of players you are happy with and double click it

This should get you onto any server if you follow the instructions. If not, post back to troubleshoot with any errors or unexpected events.

1. Make sure to use dayz commander and perform all the updates need for ARMA II, DayZ, and DayZ commander.

2. Pick a server that you've successfully played in and add it to your favorites. Try to log onto this one each time.

3. Double click server and wait in lobby until Battleye fully updates. It might not happen on the first attempt to log in. Let it kick you...

4. Click and log into server a second time through commander and wait for the two red lines of type to pop up and then hit OK from the lobby.

PM me with questions, there are a lot of little tricks here and there, but if you see a server listed in DayZ commander with any greyed out info, that means it is on a different version than you are. Be patient when finding a server and when hitting OK from lobby. Keep messing with it, you'll figure it out. Battleye is a pain in the ass and servers no purpose other than making it hard to log into servers as far as I can tell.

Oh, you can perform all the need updates through commander and if you've played on a server before you don't need to start steam each time, just go through DayZ commander for updates and logging on.
