another poor performance thread

Recommended Posts

Well I just built a new PC , on dayz I get around 50 fps on low setting in the open fields and forest. And I get 25 fps in towns. My friend has an i3 with a shittier graphics card than mine and he manages to get better performance than me.Is something wrong with my system or is it just Dayz horrible optimation at play.

Specs: fx8350 CPU

Gtx 660 GPU

8gb ram

1tb HDD

750w PSU

Internet could be an issue. Does he have a better internet provider/plan?

Is your friend playing on the same server at the same time as you?

Same number of players and zombies spawned in the area?

What ping do you both get?

Hope I'm not too late...

I have a fx 8320 with a GTX670 with 8 GB of ram and a SSDrive. Open fields I can get upwards of 120+ fps on low settings (low pop server with 35-50 ms pings). You might want to post your graphics settings because Arma2 is weird and unintuitive on what the right set up should be.

In the same house another machine with GTX 580 on a i5 3750 with 8 GB of ram. The Intel machine performs better on equal low settings in cities like Cherno. Overall Intel is the better choice over AMD with Arma2/Dayz mod however my gut says your machine on a good low latency server should be giving you better frame rates then you mention.

With my AMD machine I can get from 20 to 120+ fps depending on the situation. I eventually forced myself to turn vsync on to minimize the fps fluctuations.

From my readings Arma2 won't take advantage of all of the
