Key Stolen.. do i have to buy new game?

im probably going to buy a new copy of the game, seeing as mine was stolen few months back,

what would i have to do to make sure im not banned..

would i have to delete local content and re-buy?

EDIT: Can someone just explain simply how i can get back on DayZ without being banned..

i.e Deleting Keys etc.

i got it from steam.. i wanted to download DayZ version.. i downloaded it from another website because DayZ commander wasnt working... i start playing.. and go on later that day and had global ban:/?

Before buying a new key i would find out how the original was stolen, chances are the new key will be stolen if you have nasty software installed that you don't know about.

sounds like you caught yourself a trojan/virus of some sort.

make sure to reinstall your whole computer, you want to be safe before installing another key.

don't bother with antivirus/antispyware, too late for that.

and since you bought on steam, can't buy the same game again from that account.

have to buy another version (like arma x or some other bundle)

or make a new steam account would work too.

or just buy the game on amazon.

and next time, stick with dayzcommander or official guides.

*additional hint: change all your passwords after cleaning your pc, if not to late already*

you can buy the game on another account, without the need to reinstall the files.

just login to the other account and start the game from within steam.

the key in registry will update to the new one.

once you did that, you can start the game without steam, like dayzcommander.

There's no such thing as a "Legit key online". ANY source that sells just keys isn't legit. They are all stolen, like yours.

your key remains banned, have to appeal at battleeye to get unbanned (would save you the money if it was a false positive)

your key is used to authenticate yourself on servers. the server talks to BE and if there is no issue, you may join.

thats why you need to change the key in registry. luckily, steam will do that job for you.

if you buy the key from somewhere else, you still have to convert it, because the key written in your registry needs to be encoded.

good luck with that, no idea what algorithm they use for that.

btw, since you use a new key, your character and it's inventory is gone as well.

Not at all. What profit would a site be getting by legitimately buying games, and then selling them for cheaper than retail price? There is none. The ony way to run a profit from that is to acquire them cheap and sell them for more. Stealing keys is by far the most common method of this. Don't believe me? Check the forums, tell me how many threads you see about people's CD keys (Singular and plural) being stolen, or getting "CD-Key in use" because someone has sold their key online from some cheap website, and then consider all of the people who simply do not speak up about it, and you'll see it's not "Bullshit".

There is literally no reason to buy them off a website for slightly less and run the risk of it just being a stolen one and thus funding a site that sells stolen keys when you can get it on steam and have complete peace of mind.

sell the game, cheaper then the actual cd/dvd/retail stuff?

apparently it works, and not only for games.

you can buy windows 7 keys and download the image for the dvd right from microsoft. legit.

i already bought a few games and other software that way.

though i prefer the steam way because it's easier and i'm lazy.

believe what you want. but i have no reason to lie. and i make damn sure to buy legit stuff, lol.

and yes there is a reason: save money.

if you buy just the key, you can sometimes save like 50% if you are lucky.

if it's worth it when we talk about 15 bucks shouldn't be up to you to decide.
