Character's appearance changes

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but I think it would be a cool idea for the character models in Day Z.

Firstly, the character will start as normal, but overtime, your characters appearance will start to degrade. His/her clothes will get dirtier, tears will occur in different spots of clothing,This could be fixed by finding more clothing, blood will stain different parts of your clothing and possibly even your skin which could be washed off with water. If male, your character could start to grow a beard, which could be shaved off by finding a razor. His/her hair could start to grow longer, and your appearance would be more rugged overall.

For one, you never shave a beard in a zombie apocalypse... it's the root of all your killing power.

Haha, I agree. I personally would let my Beard grow, but I know some people that would want to shave their beard so I thought I may as well add it in there.

The implementation would take quite some time I think but if done right, it's also a good addition. Bullets and zeds could tear into your clothes as they attack you which would speed up the process of having to repair them a bit because normal wear and tear takes days. Maybe it could also take into account wether you go prone alot and on what surfaces.

I'm not much for shaving my beard, I'd feel naked without it :D

Your clothes should wear and tear when you get shot, stabbed, beaten, scratched, etc-- in which case, survivors will want to get new, undamaged clothes.

Physical changes should reflect mostly in your character, not necessarily his gear. Beards, scars, tattoos would make survivors more attached to their character, not just their gear.

Rather than these somewhat useless details... I feel the devs should continue to work on stuff like Zombie AI, the Inventory system, Finishing the Alpha Version of the SA... things like that... Honestly who the fuck care about having to shave a beard, I mean i get it, you want more real life in there, but how about we just settle for a completed game atm. I mean with Rocket off climbing mountains instead of finishing a project he said would be finished by last Dec Id be happy to just get a game at this point.
