They aren't really bandit (nor as an "RPG" role), neither they are retard.. they are just "videogamers". Unfortunately most of videogamers learned to play shooters, and they only know to "kill the enemy" .. nor because they are dumb, but because most of the games are designed like this. DayZ is different, *but* it offers the same tool of a traditional FPS (weapons basically...) so the first thing the average gamer will do is: KILL! Nothing more.. nothing less.

Unfortunately there's no way you can teach gamers to do something differently.. unless you decide to (artificially) incentivate a different behavior .. or punish a "kill on sight" one.

This has nothing to do with "food research" (or any other loot thing...), most of "bandits" kills just to increase their kill count, believing it the right thing to do.. like the number of kills is a sort of skill indicator.

Anyway, one of the nice things about this mod is it tends to mirror what the real world would be like when humanity loses everything that keeps it distracted from its very nature. When you take away all our amenities, distractions, entertainments, etc, we really are just animals. Animals will do whatever they need to do to survive. Put that up there with experience and you have what is happening here. How many experienced players are getting ganked when they take in a guy fresh off the beach that just kills them when they least expect it, to get the better gear?

Join a clan that doesn't like bandits, team up with friends, or team up with a couple guys just off the beach, so none of you have anything that the other wants. Build real camaraderie, play it like real life. I know it's a game, but it's also a simulator. In the real world, especially if this scenario plays out, there won't be anyone to complain to because someone isn't being nice.

I did shoot two guys in a store because they spawned just in front of me and their friend killed me right after that, but for some reason they didn't register and I was alive in the same place when I reconnected. I usually just run like hell if I see somebody coming after me.

I don't consider myself a bandit, if I hear someone shooting or I run into them in close space I will kill them on sight. It is just too much risk to assume a person will be friendly when they are pointing a gun at you. I kill people who are shooting because even if they are killing zombies they are most likely being careless to begin with and I will be safer by putting a bullet in their back. The way the game is right now it's just not worth it to try and play nice, avoidance if your best chance to survive. The game is also much more entertaining playing with a few friends with voice comm.

My kills were due to lack of food, others may have been. Im typically a nice guy =P

Though i only really played zombie modes, not that big of a fan of competitive modes.

I am a bit more hostile then my friends though, usually because despite so many times Bandits, or general killers, have ended our happy times, they still call out to other players, ask if they need help, etc. I prefer to stay quiet. Watch for anything suspicious. I think over time it has become a bit more of a safety reflex, but i barely ever need to kill. Only killed 3 times, and two of those were avenging fallen comrades.

i have only shot at 2 people in this game so far one was having a shoot out with 2 other people and i shot him from a hill when he was on top of an apartment building didnt kill him just broke his leg i think and another one in a ghullie suit who was stalking me. if i see someone i ask if friendly and if they reply i leave them alone if not i keep my gun trained on them until they run away out of my sight

Ha, my first kill was in a supermarket. Went to meet my brother and heard gunfire just before we went in. My friend went around the front and i snuck around the back, two shots in the back of his head like an assassin. Felt horrible afterwards, heart was racing, was like i was killing someone in real life xD

That sounds almost exactly like what my situation was. I was laying down in the back of the big room. One guy walks in the front door, the other through the side door. I shoot at the one on the side, hurt him, he kills me.

Our group go out of their way to leave the fresh spawners alone, we've had people test our patience though. We were carrying out a refuelling stop for our boat, when some dude with a torch spawns by us. Despite four guys in camo gear carrying M16's/M4's telling this dude over direct that we'll leave him alone if he just backs away from us while we refuel, this guy decides to walk towards our boat, yelling at him dosent make him stop. The stand off ends with him getting in the boat and three of us emptying half a clip each into his face.

TL:DR; Just spawned? do as the guys with military gear say.

It was in Elektro if I recall correctly. The two of them were inside the store, while the third was outside and the two probably thought I was the third since they clearly saw me and just kept checking loot. I was in a bit of a shock, gathered myself and decided to shoot them because one had a M4. I went over to them quickly, shot both with my Winchester and took their stuff. I wasn't quick enough, since their friend managed to "kill" me. My heart was pounding like hell, lol. When I reconnected I was kind of relieved not to have two murders. Now when I'm thinking, I should have probably just GTFO of the store.

I think the underlying reason is there's no repercussions for being a bad guy.

Sure..."heart beats faster when there's a bandit", but that doesn't help you if you just spawned with no weapon.

Besides, No-nametag servers make it harder to spot a bandit before it's too late.

Bandits will only cause more people to go bandit. Simple. You'll only see more bandits as the game progresses so you might as well jump on the bandwagon and shoot on sight.
