wshope 10 Posted April 7, 2013 I was thinking that there should be gun safes in random houses along the countrysides. They would have random spawns, like helicopter crash sites, but would only be found inside of buildings. With Rocket's new implementation of loot being spread around houses such as under beds, behind TVs, etc, there could be a piece of paper that has a code written somewhere on it. That code could open the safe and inside could be something along the lines of a CZ550 or any regular hunting shotgun, nothing too big, just basic loot. It would be something to keep the gameplay interesting at times when you're just running through the countryside.

applejaxc 2500 Posted April 7, 2013 In real life, if you aren't being chased, I can see you searching for a scrap of paper...But I forsee players wasting ammo trying to shoot the things open. But yeah! What if military loot locations had lockers in lock up, instead of sniper rifles all over the floor? Y'know, like real life? And you have to go to a certain part of the base to unlock/get the key? What if not turning the power on/off made an alarm go off?I'd rather see keys, though, I think. One of the most fun things to me in DayZ is when you're looting a dead player, guessing where all his gear came from. "Oh, he probably got this in the firestation right before I shot him. Oh, he must have got this from that other player earlier. Oh," et cetera. Imagine finding a key on a dead body, and running through houses all over town looking for where the key goes? If they were small enough/convenient enough, I'd have like 5 keys on me at all times, so when I'm killed, the player is like, "Fuck..." You could essentially "Troll" by dying in Cherno when all your keys open train station lockers in Stary Sobor. The item in your inventory would just say "Key," and you'd have to scroll through them to test each key on each thing you want to open.FURTHERMORE, what if these safes could be "saved," just like tents and cars? This would promote teamwork city-clearing and strict discipline as to who carries the key under what situations.Imagine you're running from a firefight-gone-bad with your three best friends. You get to the top of the hill. At the base, your friend Mike dies. He has the key to your vault. Your vault has all your food and ammo in it. Do you abandon him/all the awesome stuff in your vault, or turn around and fight like hell?
thegalakrondian 17 Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) There should be a safe for everything, ex getting a safe and put it in a tent, shelter, or hideout where all your precious loot could go. Then again, it makes it easier for hackers to spawn in items and keep repeating it and put safes all over the place and ruin the game experience. There should be code-operated locks, not just locks that need keys, etc etc.EDIT: This can take away the PvP experience where you can put all your stuff in a code-operated lock that you only know the combination of and go out with only a pistol and kill someone and take their stuff, then you rinse and repeat till basically you can survive for a long time. Also, safes are really REALLY heavy, if you try to carry it, it should affect speed, stamina, mobility, sound, and sight. Sight is when you make yourself a bigger object, thus allowing things to see you more clearly (when you're carrying something in your backpack 3x the size of your body mass and weight or dragging it along with the object radiating the sun's rays into the zombies eyes or a sniper's scope.) Sound being it should make a screeching sound when you drag it or something along those lines. Edited April 10, 2013 by thegalakrondian
