As long as melee was better, I'd say a knife. A good, reliable knife.

stab some zombies, cut some meat. knife.

At least that's the first thing I'd grab in a real scenario...

Would you use the same knife for killing the infected and cutting meat?

I would choose an M14 AIM, or an L85 Holo.

Ammo is very easy to find, and these weapons are very powerful.
