DayZ - TrackIR 5 demonstration/Instructional tutorial

Recommended Posts

HI everyone.

I've had a few requests recently to make another TrackIR video.

So I managed to get hold of a cheap webcam and here it is!

Whats in the video:

1. webcam footage throughout showing my head movements while using TrackIR.

2. Demonstration of the TrackIR 5 software and how to configure axis curves, deadzones, apply and compare curve profiles, hotkeys for centering your view while in-game.

3. Discussion about deadzones on X and Z axis and why.

4. In-game demonstration of TrackIR with webcam footage.

5. In-game discussion of x axis lean and how deadzone affects this axis.

6. some totally unprepared random shootout with another survivor in the apartment block in Cherno.

I didn't know him, but his name was Romeo, he died a noble death which totally made the end of this video way more awesome!! :D

Amazing! Ive had trackir for a while but never could make the settings just right, time to experiment.

Should be pinned as a tutorial in various forums, the best video i've seen explaining the features...the deadzone when pitching/yawing was so aggrivating, no smoothness just a sudden stop and heaving to lean like the tower of pisa around corners left me was using Q and A, and wondering why track ir was worth it...

Cheers, cheers, cheers...for the money you pay they could have a lot better guides to help get full use of this awsome gadget.

Ordered the Track IR 5 with Pro after seeing a couple of videos of folks using it. The incremental real-time head movement synced viewing is a no-brainer for added realism in the DayZ game.

Ultimately you'd be on a holo-deck (ala' Star Trek) so why not get as close to it as you can by incorporating head-movement with... head movement!

As a left handed player, I also welcome freeing up some of the extra keys to be pressed - re-binding the keypad at the right for movement (as it is no longer needed for head turning!)

For additional realism, I let meat rot in my garage for a couple of weeks and then set it on my lap while playing. The smell gives me the "zombie scent" realism.
