TIC 1050 Posted March 31, 2013 I'd like to see zombies have a different type of behavior at night. Such as bumping into walls and such or even tripping on objects and act aggressive when spotting a player(Standalone idea)Other than that, playing at night was always fun for me but haven't done it in awhile since I played on other maps which don't really offer night setting. I agree.
Grabbin Pillz 1 Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) Maybe an entirely new type of zombie should be introduced only at night that carries something incredibly useful, that cant be found as loot in buildings, but only on them. They could have a distintive growl or cry, and act or move a certain way. This Forces the player to actual go out roaming at night looking for these zombies instead of running from them, though they would be aggresive of course. This forces the player to actually use the flashlight to spot zombies even with the fear of being killed by other players. This would add more atmoshere hearing players shooting the undead in the distance. Of course this would be an idea for the standalone. I really have any reasons or ideas to play on night servers for the mod. Especially because I havnt come to play it yet. Just a suggestion. :) Edited March 31, 2013 by Grabbin Pillz
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted March 31, 2013 Have you ever been in the middle of nowhere a night? No major cities or anything in the area? It gets dark. Really dark.Yes, I have (irl). It was in a forest too. Even though the cloud cover was thick, I could still see where I was going. Your eyes naturally adjust to the darkness.

JeffDetroit 717 Posted April 17, 2013 I prefer the night games when I want to increase the terror level. There is something very eerie about stumbling around in the dark, newly spawned with absolutely nothing in your gear, hearing a moaning zombie, and not sure if you are going to walk right into it. Taking away that terror by turning up the gamma, or using night vision glasses robs you of that element of terror. If you're changing the "physical world" of the game then are you really playing the game? For me, this is survival, and if you're in the dark with a flashlight, well, then you have to weigh your chances of using a flashlight and drawing fire from other survivors against being able to navigate (and loot) effectively. The daylight game gives you the other side of DayZ, where you're sneaking around both zombies and players who can better see you. To each their own choice, but I like the horror effect of the game. Yesterday I was playing a night game before work and I spawned on the coast near Cherno with only a flashlight. There were others on the server so I decided to light up the flashlight and if some jerk wanted to shoot me down so be it. Well, it turned out that the flashlight worked as a survivor beacon and soon I had a buddy to go looting with. Holding the flashlight without a primary weapon on your shoulder shows folks that you're a new spawn and no threat (and no loot). It was a good session.
