mz0flick 0 Posted March 26, 2013 So I bought myself a new laptop (MSI GE70 0ND-245NE) and now I'm having serious fps issues, currently jumping between 10-15..Rig;CPU = Intel Core i7-3630QMGraphics Card = Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M / 2GB GDDR5 (With an Intel® HD Graphics 4000 intergrated).RAM = DDR3 8GB (4GB*2)HDD = 750GB 7200RPMPost if you need any additional info about the rig.So basically I went from my old computer where I was running 40-50 fps stable with a worse rig than what I'm running now, and now I'm on this rig and I'm stuck at 10-15fps even outside of cities. The peak I've had playing was at 30, and it won't go above it what so ever (This was when I was staring at the clouds). My suspicion is that arma is running with my intergrated graphics card rather than my GTX 660M.I've tried every fps lag fix anyone has ever posted and my fps refuses to change. On a side note I can play BF3, WoW and alot of other games on ultra with a good and stable FPS (which I couldn't do with my old rig), but with DayZ it's a whole different story.I'm just wondering if anyone know how I can force it to run with my 660M instead of the intergrated card through DayZCommander, because I find it hard to believe I shouldn't be able to reach a higher FPS on this rig.I've made it so my computer uses the GTX 660M by default. Skoll (DayZ) 0 Posted March 26, 2013 i7 is terrible for gaming, be it on laptop or desktop version. The reason is hyperthreading, that thing with ARMA II drops 10% of performance. Meanwhile other games you might have a max of 4% of performance. i7 for any versions is terrible for gaming, and laptops are kind of worse, if the purpose is gaming. Always go for a PC, seriously. I've been a Laptop Gamer for more than 3 years and I know what I'm talking about.
mz0flick 0 Posted March 26, 2013 How is this related to solving my issue? as I said I can run alot of other games that require good rigs to run on ultra, on ultra without problems. But with DayZ, I've tried every damn setting without reaching above 20 fps, and Loading screen I'm stuck at 30 (aswell as when I look at the clouds) It won't go above, which makes no sense to me. Skoll (DayZ) 0 Posted March 28, 2013 Oh, yes, sorry. Disable Hyper-threading. That should help to fix your issue.
Prototype771 4 Posted March 28, 2013 Integrated graphics are an alien part of intel (and amd) for me. AS far as i know, the integrated chip should be "turned off" when you are using a dedicated GPU (ex: GTX 560) If you have your monitor plugged into the mobo's VGA ports, then there's your problem. Also keep in mind, this engine is buggy, and the i7s usually experience problems. I have yet to see an i5 user have problems due to the CPU.
mz0flick 0 Posted March 29, 2013 @SkollNow we're talking! :D Fixed my issue quite well! I didn't find the option to disable hyperthreading in windows 8, so I downloaded a program to help me disable hyperthreading for different programs and I'm now running 30-80fps depending on locations. Thanks for your help mate.

melaw 18 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) You can check if it helps you by going to the task manager (tab out of the game), go to processes, choose ArmA2OA, the right click menu hasan option that allows you to uncheck all processor cores but one. (dunno how that's called in english Windows... the one below "priority")Now the game runs from one kernel only. This resets if you restart the game. It's a known issue (for example on UnrealTournament99)for old games on multicore CPUs. Also try running in a window, while watching the GPU temperature. There should also be a systray icon showing if the discrete GPU is active. Edited December 16, 2014 by melaw
