payed dlc format

Recommended Posts

hi we all know at some point if we want dayz to continue to be updated we may have to pay more, not thorough some pay for update system but simply because dayz is not longer making money from sales (way down the line)

the only way to make money as i see it is from maps paying for any thing else would break the basic idea of the game

cloths will end up ether silly of giving an advantage to the haves over the have nots

gun have the same problem

and in both cases it breaks the find suff to suvive game play eliment that IS the game

paying for food or ANYTHING else has the same problem

there are contueus "you have to pay for updtaes" threads going around that we all know are bullshit and come from a missunderstanding of the pay structure the game is useing, If thease where true it would kill the game and over time people would leave with "its costing to much

If you want to skip to the sugestion read below

so it seams to me that the only way to get more money out of us if need be is to charge for maps and with the size of the maps i say fair enoth

but i bet some people mainly broke of tight people would dissagree

so how about you pay the price you think is fair eg.

you go on steam to download the map you YOU put in the price you want to pay

so if you want you pay nothing and if you want you pay £50 and anything inbetween

no one goes without the map but the people who have the money and the desire to keep suporting the game can

fyi i would be paying aroung £2.50 witch i think is fair (maybee abit more if it is around 400 Sq Km)

i dont really understand what you are talking about but ...

actually the DEV team does not make any money at all.. its a mod, I only paid for arma II dayz wont make money until SA

and about amking money with SA, just look at the numbers of player, its easily over 1,500,000 players, probably not all active players, but potential SA buyer.. so i take a ''low'' price just in example: 15$ X 1,000,000 buyers = 15,000,000 $

if this is not profit what is it ?

i should say that i am talking about the stand alone

and the fact is that one day dayz sales will solw down A LOT and making a map of this scale takes mounths

I own my own bissiness and i can tell you that if you are not currently making money form something you can not justify working on it it is basic economics. how much do you think it cost to pay 2 people to make a map taking 5 mounths ???? and i am taking about trained programers, there not on minimum wage

you can't keep updating a game indeferately if you are not making money off it somewhere

lastly in the lastest set of vids rocket himself was talking about maps being payed DLC

I can hardly understand your thread. If English isn't your native language, then making long threads like this is a bad idea. I don't think you need to be worrying about financial problems for the SA just yet, it hasn't even come out.

I don't know why the first three replies are negative or why the game I shall not name was mentioned.

If I get his post right, he's merely saying that maybe future maps for the stand-alone could be paid DLC.

And I'm gonna double post, just wanted to get the above of my chest after reading the reply above it.

I don't think it's that crazy to expect future maps to be paid for. Unless Rocket and BIS decide to give us access to the editor, there's going to be money involved in creating future content. I could also be entirely wrong, if BIS treats this as a 'fun' project like the ones Google cut back on it might be funded with whatever they can spare and we reap the benefits :D

Paying for extra maps.. Like CoD. Yeah, the CoD bissiness model is something everyone should aim for! /sarcasm

i don't know if you noticed, but the maps are already built, only fine mod are done, so it takes a couple of days to get a good map out of the old...

and you said it yourself that rocket would probably release a bunch of maps as a paying dlc so why do you make this topic ?

still a nonsence.

even.. i dont think any money they will make from the SA would get in your pocket am i wrong ?

English is my first language but i am dyslexic and my spellchecker was playing up when i posted it seems to be working again now

what i am saying is maps are the only thing that should be payed dlc, dean himself talked about it in the second day pax video

what i am suggesting is that there should be no fixed price for maps. that the person downloading the map could choose to pay what they wanted for that map

whether at is nothing, £5, £10 or £50 or anything in between

I hope this clears it up

Why not? They probably make hundreds of millions of dollars each game!Just think what Rocket could do with a $100 million budget...

I think I understand what your saying but the key problem here is that MOST people are not going to pay if they don't have to, if you give people the option to pay what they want and not a set price then essentially you've just made free dlc. Basically your idea is to give people an easier way to donate money to developers.

No. The only reason you need that much money is to pocket it.

I don't know what your problem is but I don't even play that game. If the DLC for DayZ turns out to be free, all the better but if not, I won't mind paying for a good map if the price is reasonable. If new features for your car / pc / whatever crap you ever bought with the capability to be expanded come out, you don't go running to your dealer getting that for free now do you?

edit

And sometimes you do get that new ish for free, that's when you got lucky.

edit yet again

changed upgraded to expanded because it makes more sense, we're talking landmass here

yes most people will take it for free thats sort of the point that way no one missis out because they can't afford to pay, this way you dont split the community in two 1 map that EVERYBODY can play nobody misses out yet the dev's get some well earned cash

"Basically your idea is to give people an easier way to donate money to developers."

sort of but you donate for something it is paying for the map. it not really donating it more like walking in to a shop picking up and ipod and only paying for it if you want too

If the devs were honest and said flat out that: "Hey, we're running out of funds. Would you be willing to pay for this new map that we made?", I might be willing to put some money into purchasing a new map (Assuming I was bored of Chernarus).

I only take issue with companies that charge extra when they don't really need to. A role of a business is to provide their employees with sufficient income to support themselves and their possible families, and to produce services/goods for people/other companies. If a company doesn't need extra money to perform these tasks they shouldn't, in my opinion, be coming up with devious strategies to strip their possibly poor customers of their last pennies.

A bit of honesty never hurts(I'm looking at you EA/Sim City).

I doubt rocket is going to pull a Call Of Duty on us and start charging us for map packs. It would also be utterly pointless because we are going to be able to make our own maps so why pay for new maps when you get get free player made ones. This thread is inbound for the graveyard or Orlok's stomach.

And the grammar is making this hard to read. I know you said you a problem but try to spell check a little more. *grammar nazi removed. I realized that even after 60 years it is still to soon.*
