dmddmm 1 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) The reason I ask is because I was playing on a SA server, dropped 2 guys who were sniping into Cherno in a field. They were about 200m from me. I had a DMR. They both went unconscious because I shot each one 1 hit in the torso. Then I fired more shots to finish them but every round went "through" the body and kicked up sand under the body where it was impacting the ground. I was wondering if that's a sign of combat logging? Do bodies/character models stay for a while after you combat log but you cant hit them?Of course I got the whole "learn to shoot" treatment in the side chat but I think its quite obvious that anyone, even the worst players, can hit a stationary target with DMR, especially if you fire almost a whole clip at two unconscious bodies. And then their buddy found me and Barretted me in the face. Edited March 25, 2013 by dmddmm
Easy_Tiger (DayZ) 33 Posted March 25, 2013 I suggest firing a follow up shot quicker to make sure you get the kill. If the loser still manages to combat log while he's unconscious then just camp the spot where he logged. When he logs back in rinse and repeat.

But my question is, was that combat logging? Is that what happens when someone combat logs because iv never experienced it before? Do the character models stay in the game for a while but don't register hits?
Imafighter 236 Posted March 25, 2013 Most likely server lag. You probably did kill him, but he logged out because it showed him as dead on his computer, but in reality, he was still alive and well. He probably rejoined the server with full HP, wondering what the hell happened.

That worked, those two shots hit fine and they went unconscious. Why would that show as death on their screen even with lag? Surely it would just show the hourglass on their screen? After those two immobilization shots I began to try finish them. Its at this point that none of my rounds hit. It was like their bodies were just pictures on the map that bullets pass though. After dust started kicking up I though "shit, I'm aiming too low or something" so i adjusted my aim and kept shooting, but no matter where I shot along the bodies it would just kick up sand under the character model like the rounds were passing right through it.
