Roark92 90 Posted March 24, 2013 lol they are zombies. saying infected is so stupid its a waste of a post.maybe they were SUPPOSED to be infected when dean started, but its pretty obvious that they are now officially zombies.people infected with zombie-ism... zombies.we dont even know how threatening zombies will be when standalone comes out... why are people suggesting making them more threatening when no one knows how threatening they are to begin with?this isnt the mod anymore... Sakka 28 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) If they're not zombies, The Z in DayZ stands for...?I always thought that the "Z" in DayZ stood for zero. As in day zero, which is what it says to you every time you first start a life. I'm not sure but just my opinion. Edited March 24, 2013 by Sakka
OTehNoes 21 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Sorry, but the no headshot/instant kill is completely bs IMHO.They're still people, just infected and driven to madness, pump them full of bullets and they'll die like anybody else. Hal-9000 8 Posted March 25, 2013 They're still people, just infected and driven to madness, pump them full of bullets and they'll die like anybody else.Fair enough. Though this is really misleading:'Realistic "Zombies" with custom animations - These once human creatures will act and behave as if they have a heighten sense of hearing and smell but less sight, on top of that they use motion captured animations such as walking and eating from your unconscious body. If you look into any built up area you'll see them walking around waiting for their next victim which dares to venture in.'They should update the game info, otherwise people will keep asking. Sutinen 635 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) I know they are infected, but I call them zombies. They go to the same category as "undead" or whatever they are called. Edited March 25, 2013 by Sutinen

You didn't actually support your argument with anything...Anyways, I wouldn't mind trying out headshots only, it could prove to be pretty interesting. gesundheitk 420 Posted March 25, 2013 So here is my list what u think guys. Be free to add yours.1# Only headshots can kill a zombie other then that slows thier movement or have a chance % to knock them back.2# Different type of zombies e.g screamer who alerts the rest of dead.3# Walkers- packs of zombies ( 50 ) which may walk across the whole map following/tracking animals if they find a player they come after him if they lose him they are back to original track. Those changes could make game more difficult and force player to think before he gonna shot another living being.sry for my eng i know its not perfect. :)Here's my assessment of the ideas:1. I have thought about this before. But, as much as it would this seem to cool to implement, we tend to run into some problems. One is storyline; as I've said in a previous post, we don't really know what has caused everyone to up and become something that wants to cannibalize every living thing in the planet. Another problem is difficulty; this is after all, a game. Making the game disturbingly difficult would not only hurt the softcore community in this forum, but just piss people off in general. The reason why it works so well in The Walking Dead is because they don't have a full-on sprint towards you, and tend to shuffle. While I believe that it would be nice to implement this idea into the standalone, it's less likely than what we could expect; I think it is really up to rocket's vision of zombies, as far as I can tell.2. That's pretty intuitive, but that sounds like an idea from L4D. I'd just find that too cliche, and-or annoying. Even if it was implemented, I don't think it would be as game-immersing than something as of a car alarm, or just something that was made to make loud noises. That's all I feel we are pushing for here, is realism.3. I really do like this idea. This would further support the 'walking dead' type of infected that I'm most interested in. Herds of infected roaming the map can really frighten people, especially since the thought of "one isn't that dangerous, but if they get into groups, you are in trouble". The only way I can see this work in-game is if all infected retained some kind of monkey-see, monkey-do attitude. This idea, however, has been suggested since the beginning of DayZ from what I can concur.I don't think it's really the fact that 'he' is not going to shoot another living being, but more of a difficulty when it came to infected. People become bandits because they want to be bandits. The thing about DayZ is that it gives you the freedom to be a hero, survivor, or a bandit. While I do like making it tougher to be bandits, people in the community will eventually become what they want to become, and you ain't stopping them, but rather putting up roadblocks. I am more interested in player interaction with infected rather than other players.
