Hallucinations and hearing things that aren't there.

The mind and its ability to trick you has always fascinated me.

Maybe if you are in the dark too long you could start to hear things. maybe if you're hurt and very low on blood, or if your starving/thirsting to death you'll see hallucinations, hear zombies (but have an effect to where you know its a hallucination) hear someone say "I'm here, it's ok"

This is an apocalypse and we all know that it would take its toll on someone. Fearing for your life every second, doing your damnedest to keep moving forward. It would come at a price somewhere down the line.

Maybe bandits could hear voices, very subtly but they would be there.

just suggestions!

P.S. I could go further and say Heroes could hear angel choirs but that would be stupid as hell :P

I thought the incorporation of mirages would be a very cool idea. As in imagine if you were in the woods and you see a hazy vehicle really far away, but you get close and its nothing

I've suggested this sooo many times. We need some goddamn hallucigenic berries/mushrooms in the deep forests.

You're hungry and stumbling along the woods for some grub, and you just happen along a big patch of scrumptious looking berries, right in season too! So you grab handfulls upon handfulls and shovel those babies into your mouth. You soon start seeing unicorn-bears battling a headless horseman, and your best friend Dave (who died long before the apocalypse) is somehow walking beside you and is telling you all about his travel to Kenya where he did kegstands with Usain Bolt. It'd be rad!

predator and little kids calling out would be the main ones. there is a few other sounds they are pretty creepy i reckon. and now they have added that alien thingy to it (the predator noise makes more sense now). been a while since i played it though. Good weapons on namalsk also and they aint to hard to find (go to the bunker)..

Foraging is a good idea for the standalone, there should also be some kinds that would just straight-up kill you.

I really like the idea, I think it's a great way to freak players out even more than they tend to be. Especially in the quiet woods. But would it lend a hand to 'shoot on sight', because they're so edgy they can't deal with actually meeting someone?

I really like the child voices/random noises coming from the background. I think the humanity system should be kept, but it should be completely hidden. So if you got 1-2 murders on your stats, you start hearing the noises. Then your humanity slowly reaches the 0 point, when you don't hear noises. If you kill more people, your humanity doesn't come down, but the hallucinations are not as common. When you have killed a lot of people (-30000) you barely get any hallucinations anymore.

uhh idanno what anyone else thinks but the game already does this. you hear ambient noise all around, and if you are under pressure(which is usually when you start to have auditory and visual hallucinations) you may interpret the sounds as something they are not. as for visual people think they see things in the game all the time when they really don't. you cant print human psyche onto code. its just something that is. putting hallucinations in a game detracts from that i think. i think all the game needs is more and better ambient effects to achieve this sort of unsureness of your environment. hallucinations seems like a way to tell the player to feel fear. its unnatural and dayz is all about making you scared at your core. heart rate rises. sweat glands open. your hands get shaky. your mind starts to race. then survival instincts kick in and you make a decision. why water that down?

but those are just my thoughts on it.

Make it even scarier, While you walk around the city on a acid trip you can hear screaming of people during the zombie attack and yells of pain, gunfire being set off in a very high volume etc.

When i'm on Mooshrooms. I see teh past.

Hearing noises/voices just because you killed someone or because it's dark makes no sense.

Hallucinations would be cool but I don't want them to be randomized. They should always be he result of something that you did to yourself, like ingesting hallucinogenic substances or foods.
