Your Best, "Worst" Vehicle moment in DayZ

So last night I'm in Berezino and had just looted the supermarket and hospital and decided to check out the cafe. I go upstairs and find my first Mountain Dew...YAY!... Damn the curse I'm holding on to this I think. Take off and figure its time to get out of the city and trek inland. Start working my way northeast, come around a building and a dirtbike is sitting there.

Figure what the hell, Ive never seen one ingame so i check it out. Its all green and gassed up. Oh boy, lets take it for a spin. Jump on and start it up, making all kinds of noise so here comes the Zeds. I start going forward but not very fast. I can barely turn it and start to get worried about the zeds. I dont know what I'm doing and I bounce it off a car and go up on top of a pile of rubble, it wont go forward any longer.

A smart survivor might say screw it and hop off lesson learned. Not me. I start backing it up off the pile. The zeds arrive and start trying to eat me, so I ditch the bike and take off. Work my way around to lose them and make my way back around to the bike to find Ive wrecked it. I think its time for a trip to the armory to do some practice driving.... :)

The only ATV I've found was a burnt out hulk so I haven't had the opportunity to embarrass myself with one of them....YET :)

Best vehicle moment...well I was heading west out of Cherno in a UAZ and as I came up to the gas station a survivor with no weapon came running out of the small shop. As he dashed across the road I went into 3rd person and watched him run towards the coast only to have my car suddenly jolt. i had unknowing hit a bandit skin with a Lee Enfield. The survivor told me the guy chased him out of Balota airfield and chased him through the woods. I called that UAZ, Bandit Killer. We both met our demise in Stary Sobor.

Worst. I crashed an Osprey into the Fire Station at Airport Dubovo on Taviana. Killed 3 survivors. I had never flown before. I have never flown since.

Funniest vehicle moment was at novy sobor, I drove a Truck with my friend in it. I tried to drive between a crashed truck ( the rusty things, so no player truck ) and a bus stop, I was inbetween them and suddenly all stats (beside fuel) went red and that shit exploded. I was stuck in the Bus station. I had to laugh so hard, but my friend was very sad.

A couple weeks ago, I had finally worked up the courage to check out green mountain. I got there and a lil bird was parked right next to the barracks. I sat in a tree for a bit thinking someone had stopped to loot. No one came back so I thought I was safe. It was full of stuff, was fully gassed and all parts were green. Oh man was I excited. I had practiced helos in the armory for a bit so I started her up and took off. About 30 minutes later, someone started shooting an as-50 at me and several big Booms rocked my lil bird. Holy Shit I figure rockets were being fired at me too. The helo was slightly damaged but they were either really bad shots or I was lucky.

I kept flying around practicing and got more bold so started flying at lower altitude. Of course I clipped the treetops and crashed. All that equipment destroyed. I laughed because I was injured but didnt die. So the Peeps on US46 that lost a lil bird full of equipment because some bambi found your helo at green mountain....... Im sorry :blush:

In Lingor I took an old bike down a steep hill and hit 90 mph, then flew off a road blockade when the turn got too steep, went 50 feet in the air over an embankement making it 100 ft, turned sideways in midair, then landed and died.

In Sahrani I drove a motorcycle down a mountain and got to 125, lived but got shot at by a guy with an Enfield (random dude)... crashed the bike in the trees and got away, getting shot 3 more times throughout the ordeal until I died.

He was a jackass. I was going to leave, obviously, and I would have kept going because I barely saw him (just before he fired I said to my friends "I think another guy is here") and I was still going a good 65 when I got to the bottom of the hill, not to mention I ran away even AFTER I wrecked the bike. He was just a D***.....

I Got kicked from a server after I had fixed a chopper that took me 5 hours to find the parts for, only got to fly it for 12 minutes, killing both me and my 2 other teammates. If that isnt one of the "Worst" vehicle moments in dayz then i dont know what is..

My friend and I had found, repaired to all green, completely fueled, and stocked an ATV with basic survival supplies. We were using it to make runs from our camp to Berezino and back. The sun was setting and we didn't have night vision; but we were going to give it a shot anyway. We had just left Gorka headed east towards (coords) 103 064. If you've ever been there then you know the road gets dicey in front of the gas station at the intersection. To get through the wreckage there I had to slow down which called the infected from inside the small building there.

In my defense this was back when I had first started playing. I didn't know that the zeds couldn't hurt you if you were in a vehicle; but seeing them in the headlights running straight at us was intimidating I also, had no idea that if you turn left at the gas station the real danger lies in the nearly hair-pin turn coming up. I hit the turn at ~60kph. I paniced and buried the brake pedal to stop...which was also a bad idea. The ATV rolled, it knocked me unconscious and made me start to bleed out. My friend's momentum threw her into some trees, broke her legs, and made her start to bleed. The ATV landed near me, on fire. My friend bandaged herself and started to crawl towards me (I had the only morphine left, after the ATV had exploded). My screen was so blurry I could barely make out her silhouette crawling towards me. The ATV exploded and killed me instantly. She survived another month after that.

I was always our pilot. Consequently I had gotten very good (if I do say so myself) in a Huey. I came in hot for every landing and perched perfectly on the ground at speed but softly every time. I could park inside of the fenced in area of Elektro grocery store and make it look like I was crashing the chopper...but in fact not harm it at all. I rarely flew more than 5m over the tree line, and had only started going higher when parachutes started working. Fast forward to the patch including the MH6J...

I was playing alone for the weekend following the patch and had found and repaired an MH6J. If you've never flown one let me tell you: they can turn "on a dime". It corkscrews easily and loses very little altitude. Not only that you can do a back flip and only drop about 30m (if my memory serves, I haven't played in a while). At any rate, I was doing back flips over Cherno waiting for my friends to get there. I had gotten brave and was starting to get dangerous. I pulled up too hard with too little speed. I rolled my mouse wheel to auto level as a last ditch effort. Instead of choosing auto level I chose to turn off the chopper. I quickly powered it back up (luckily they get prop speed quick). Literally 1m above the ground the propeller caught air and lifted me. My friends and some guy on sniper hill all said I looked like I had dumped it. I played it off as if it was my boss ass skills.

Best vehicle moment... This is embarrasing. I was playing with my group of 4 people a while back and we had a UAZ. We were driving around cherno and elektro and fixed up the two atv's on the mountain. Because I'm (Normally) a good driver I drove mine down fast and my friend got stuck with his so I went over to try to help him flip it with my ATV. Long story short 1 atv blows up... Then I drive the other one down and manage to flip it next to a tree so it was impossible to unflip (Back in 1.2.6 or whatever it was you could flip it by turning the wheels and backing up for a good 10 minutes:D). Sad we get back into the UAZ and start heading back to base with me driving as usual. Because of my somewhat shittier PC and the 100km/h speed, I don't see a rubble pile spawning and don't have time to fully avoid it so the car flips, but luckily all of us make it out alive. Lost 3 vehicles in 15 minutes.

Me and my room mate found a plane a few dayz ago at the NE airfield. We started the engine and began to take off. The plane was in perfect working condition at the time, so I figured the flight would go smoothly. I was very wrong... We get to the end of the runway, I get about 50 meters up in the air and am now flying over the forest at the end of the air strip. Suddenly the planes engine failed, The plane started to descend slowly as we glided over the pine forest. After a few seconds the plane finally started skimming the tree tops.

The plane smashed into the woods, Knocking down trees and leaving a long line of raised dirt behind the wreckage. Me and my buddy survived luckily. I woke up about 10 meters away from the crash and my buddy was under the plane. After I came to and gave my last bandage and morphine to my friend. We did our best to set up a makeshift camp about 50 yards away from the crash. Just in case some bandits or other survivors saw the wreck. We are still trying to make our way out of the woods lol.

I was riding my bike trough Vybor and I felt too cocky, I kept going full speed and thought I could go in between some rubble and a barricade and I just hit the barricade. My wheel was broken and I had to find a new one. So I started searching for one.

I went trough every industrial spawn in a certain radius, Vybor, Lopatino, Pustoshka, Kabanino and finally NWAF. I found zero wheels.

So after that, I asked for help in the sidechat. I got some guys to show up who just dropped me a wheel while driving past. Those guys saved my bike.

Welp. Heres a fun one. a couple of people on a server were being...adventurey i guess you could say, And taking survivors. Pinning all of us up in a bus and telling us not to leave the bus or we'd be killed. basically there ended up being a bus full of prisoners escorted by about seven armed men. Time went by and we all started to wonder. Hey guys. theres all of us. why dont we all just make a break for it? That didnt seem like a good idea though so ya know. No one wants to be the dead guy. We went on and we stopped to refuel. Chopper landed. Bus driver got out of the bus. this looked like a huge chance to get away. Still iffy about the whole thing some idiot gets out and runs. the rest of us cheering him on for being that idiot, He's gunned down in seconds. Shit just got real. they took away our music. And they took away our beans </3 We went on and for god knows what reason they thought it would be a good idea to go to the NW AF. Well. We're about halfway there chopper cars everythings fine. what could go wrong? Turns out one of the guys on the bus had been communicating with friends through a third party service the entire time giving out the positions. Well. About five of them set up an ambush on the road. Cars blocking the road. Guys driving the cars all stop. whatthefuckisthis.jpg right then and there my danger senses kick in. Shots were fired the front car gets taken out. Then the back. Choppers just like, wado i do. I only have a huge gun on the side of me... Well this turned into the group being taken out. they let us off the bus. Said hi. Then raged at. Players>Admins Though i think i forgot to mention it was the admins doing this...

Wait a second. Now that i think of it, does this even count? ._.

I got attacked by some bandit at the airfield, I had NV on so I lost him easily trought the trees next to the barracks. He happened to have a car parked outside of the barracks so I went back slowly, as he was still looking for me I guess and stole it.

I got the car and started driving it, trying to get away from the airfield then he started shooting but I managed to run him over. He had lots of gear and stuff, so I was happy driving down towards stary sabor. Was nice and easy til' I had to sneeze and that caused me to forking crash the car and it exploded :(

I was in the forest south of Berezino and I saw a UAZ parked on the outskirts of town. This was the first car I had found in the game so I was naturally pretty excited. I ran to it and saw a dead bandit on the floor. Figured it was his car, and feeling safe I hopped in and started driving away.

It was not his car.

I look behind me while driving to realize I've stolen the caboose of a convoy and I'm being chased by 3 cars and a motorcycle. Shit... But I figure it's cool, I can try to lose them with my Gran Turismo skills or something. This is when I found out that driving up hill in DayZ is tantamount to parking. Needless to say, they JFK'd me.
