Thanks for the tips man, I appreciate them. This is however what I like to consider an advanced guide, and anyone who has played DayZ for more than a few days should already know this stuff.

There. Gave the main post a little organization... better than nothing I guess. Should be an easier read now.

There was a tutorial on combat logging?

Why do you need a tutorial on how to be a complete bitch, and press ALT+F4 at the same time?

Ok here is a usefull tip for DMR mags:

When I carry around a DMR/m14 I usually reload after every firefight. This leads to a lot of mags in my inventory with 5-9 bullits in them. Sometimes I run around with 5 half empty mags.

The solution to this is to split the mags all into M24 mags, and then combine them again into DMR rounds.

Voila: Full DMR rounds and less inventory used!

Another one for saving a car:

Keep a extra wheel in your inventory. Drive your car somewhere safe, get out and shoot 1 wheel. This way when someone finds the car they can't take it, and when you log back in you just fix the wheel and off you go

* [FIXED] - Exploit when converting Mags into other mags (Example - DMR to M24 then back)

Also, instead of sharing your exploits/glitches/cheats here, you can share a real tips how to play this game.

Combining rounds can be done in real life.. Same goes for the car.

I wouldn't call them exploits..

I do know exploits, I know how to dupe for example, but that's not something I'm going to post here..

I'm going to need a confirmation that the DMR to M24 and back to DMR rounds will actually combine the rounds before I include that tip. It doesn't sound like an exploitation to me, which would do something like give you more bullets/mags than you originally had. It sounds like just combining mags. But again, confirmation needed that it works.

As far as the tire thing goes... at this moment, I'm hesitant on suggesting that, because as of this patch, 1.7.6.1, vehicles really love to glitch up and not let you repair anything on them. I'd hate for someone to log in and be unable to fix their wheel. Perhaps I'll put it up with the warning, perhaps I'll hold off 'til the next patch.

Thank you both very much for your suggestions.

Here a small tip:

If you don't have a rangerfinder you can use waypoints to find the distance between you and your target

Unbind the hold breath button and assign it to a button of your preference.

As default hold breath it is the right mouseclick. This is the same button as zooming in when looking. So everytime you are zooming in you are holding your breath, which in turn leads to you catching your breath every 15 seconds like a chimney smoker. If you happen to get in a firefight after zooming in you are always out of breath.

I assign holding breath to a different key. I only use it when sniping just before the shot. This way I'm not always out of breath for just looking around

One thing that I've found that might not be common knowledge, and especially to the new players...

Zombies carry loot. Lots of different loot. Items like bandages, tin cans, beans, and soda, those all change your crosshairs when you aim at a zombie, giving you a context-option to pick them up directly from the body. But if you search bodies using the 'gear' key, you can find substantially more. Military zombies carry everything from STANAG ammunition, AK mags, to grenades and such. So if you're running low on ammunition for your primary... try shooting some military zombies and checking the bodies! Tedious to check every body manually, but very rewarding.

I kind of considered this somewhat common knowledge, but I guess I'll add it in.

I played DayZ every day, had a character survive 55 days before dying to a script kiddie. Me and my friend found that out by accident. We always thought that zombies only carried food, water, and the odd bandage. Nothing anywhere, at any point, suggests otherwise. Until you start searching them manually :3

Hmm. I might have to start checking them myself, actually. I generally considered them to be empty when I saw the little weapon symbol with the dots. But maybe I've been missing things.

EXACTLY

Go to an airfield and shoot military zombies. Anywhere, shoot military zombies. Search each body manually. Even if that little weapon icon with the three dots is there, you can STILL find things on the bodies. STANAG mags, AK mags, grenades, chem lights... there's a whole host of things you can find on the bodies that helps your survival that you just never know is there unless you manually search bodies.

Normal zombies sometimes carry things like crossbow bolts and such, too.

Addition:

Flank ground, you near a town like polana, and you are at the other side of the town and want to enter to the supermarket? flank to the other way around, it is safer, and if there is people, you will spot them before they spot you, and also you get rid of zombies chasing you

This is a case by case situation thing. I appreciate your submission, but I don't think I'm going to be adding this one. Thank you, though.
