Running a server from home

is there a way to run a Dayz Server from your Pc that you Don't Have To Pay Silly Money For?

And you'd pretty much need a dedicated computer for it. You wouldn't be able to run a server on your computer and have like 10 people play.

Also, I doubt your home internet connection would have the necessary bandwidth.

Home DSL connections generally have <20MB/s of downstream bandwidth, but <1MB/s upstream bandwidth. When hosting a server, the upstream is generally more important than the downstream, so a typical home Internet connection isn't suited to it.

If you've got a cat6 plug in your wall that goes straight into a 100/1000 fibre connection, then you're as well off as an expensive data centre server would be, but not many of us are that lucky.

Hosting a server for something like COD is ok at home, because it doesn't use much bandwidth, but Arma2 servers use a ton of bandwidth. You can host around 4 players per 1MB/s of upstream bandwidth in Arma (or 2-8 depending on the mission).
