Regarding Optimization

Recommended Posts

i had alot of trouble with ARMA 2 regarding FPS, where i can play other games on High setting with about the same level of detail as ARMA/DAYZMOD i was wondering if we have heard anything of how the game will run compared to ARMA 2 if it's the same, well then i can barely play.

ArmA 2 is very CPU intensive.

EDIT: also what are your specs?

It's pretty much the same. It's optimised a bit better, but the graphical fidelity has been ramped up too.

Aren't those FX-4100s dual-cores with 2 logical cores per physical? That and the fact that your GPU is a bit weak are the source of your problems in ARMA 2.

Not to mention AMD

I've got a 6970 OC and I'm running max settings just fine, thankyouverymuch.

ARMA isn't so keen on the AMD CPUs though, that's undeniable.

That's BS.

I don't trust their CPU's but for power:price AMD GPUs are the way to go. If you're looking for pure power and price isn't an issue however, then I would go with a top-tier Nvidia card.

Nvidia master race reporting in. Built my CPU with the 680 and I love it.

Trying to convince mummy dearest to give me a large chunk of cash towards the GTX Titan for my birthday. xD

Failing that I'll probably go with a 680 though, they're great GPUs. They pack a lot of punch and in a year or so when it starts to struggle the price will have dropped and you'll be able to just chuck another one in there and run them in SLi instead of breaking your bank over another new top-tier card. That's my plan anyway...

right, what do you recommend for around $200?

Well the problem that you're gonna have is that you'll need a new motherboard too which is obviously gonna cost you a bit more. Honestly, I'd sit tight and save up til you can afford something like an i5 3750k with a decent motherboard. Maybe a bit of tweaking can get the game running a bit better in the mean time...

Have you made any changes to your config at all? And are you using any startup parameters when you load the game at present?

so if i went ofr AMD with a new motherbaord for about $400? will i then be bottlenecked by my Graphics card?

With $400 you'd probably be able to get youself a decent i5 and an ASUS mobo for it.

You would be bottlenecked by the GPU but I doubt you were planning on hanging on to that card forever? I'd just make that the next componant on the upgrade list, lol.
