How do I join a private hive server? (new to dayz)

Can someone give me a step-to-step guide on how to join a private hive server? I've recently bought dayz, been watching jackfrags videos, are the servers mostly 3rd person or??

Can anyone help please? :) (Sorry, complete noob to PC gaming and dayz)

Get DayZ Commander

http://www.dayzcommander.com/

in the server list, you will see private hives mixed in with regular hive servers. Privates will be marked with an X through a cloud icon.

You join them just like you would a regular server. Just click and join.

You can filter out server based on other criteria such as 3rd person, time of day, etc.

Simple as that.

Also note that some servers are also "Whitelisted", meaning they have to approve your GUID before you can join. Generally the server host has a forum or other website you can submit your information to for whitelisting. I've run into a few that were locked and required passwords as well.
