Any way to "whisper" to a single player?

I want to chat (type) to my friend. Typing in regular chat would be annoying for other players to read. Is there a way to just chat to a single person? (besides opening steam overlay and chatting via steam)

Nope. My friend doesn't use VOIP and he uses it to type to use all the time in direct chat.

It sucks because 20m isn't that far and we always miss his chat. So unless you like a butt buddy... I recommend using headsets.

Both of you need to update to the beta patches - then both VOIP and Text works properly.
